I spent a little bit of time with Trigger many years ago discussing ramp designs. I can’t claim to know the guy personally but he was incredibly nice to me. Distance jumpers are a crazy breed. Rest In Peace.

My wife caught the gnarliest crash sequence when he shorted the jump in Miami, OK years ago. Have those pictures somewhere it was ridiculous what he was trying to do. Dude sent it for sure.

I remember watching him and Ryan Capes at the freestyle demo during intermission at ellensburg arenacross in 2002 or so. Crazy they’re both gone already. Dudes lived life in the fast lane for sure. Peace to Triggers family and friends.

I used to go on an Alaska fishing trip every year put on by fellow daredevil Paul Thacker. Trigger was a regular on the trip. He was just a relaxed down to earth guy from the beach. He was part of the original Metal Mulisha (back when it was just a crew of hard core dirt bikers that loved going big). I don’t remember the story exactly, but he had some big family money, so all the records he set weren’t done to get paid. He just loved trying to jump farther than anyone before him. I’m really glad I got the opportunity to know Trigger a bit and my heart goes out to his family.

Yep! Trigger was not about fame or money but just wanted to be a daredevil , he spoke about evil Knievel way before ramps were a thing and wanted to be like him . I grew up riding with him, I watched him kick start his cr250 in 1988 with a broken ankle after he crashed at Palm Ave. He was the real deal. He will be missed

As someone who was fortunate enough to get to spend a significant amount of time at Patm Ave from 1994 until it basically got built over, I often think about the legends in moto that rode there. The top guys would show up relatively regularly during the week. Being originally from the midwest, seeing some of those cliff jumps for the first time was unreal to me. I had too many broken wrists, arms, and collar bones to count out there. Along with broken lever, bars, subframes, and flat tires.

Our crew was about 6 or 7 years ahead of him and his crew so I never met him even though we had lots of mutual friends and lived in the same city. We rode our XR75's and SL70"s on the beach at night a few times way back when. We were always really careful and paranoid of being caught. He didn't have the same fears as us obviously....Laughing
