Hi all...just heard this morning that an old friend, Ryan Tanner, was killed at Starwest on Tuesday night. Ryan was one of those "Larger than life" types, & will be sorely missed. He grew up out here in AZ, but has lived in the SoCal area for probably 10 years or so. He was a good guy & I have many great memories of hanging with him in Vegas & SoCal. Don't have a lot of details at this point, but his brother said his bike died in mid-air, & he faced the landing of a double & flipped, breaking his neck. Not sure if he was wearing a neck brace, didn't want to ask. Please send some prayers/positive thoughts/whatever to his family. Ride in Peace, bro...//TJ

Tj sorry to hear that he was your friend. This accident has been a big topic over at Proride.com since the night it happened. I hate hearing about these things, especially to a brother rider. RIP Ryan...hope you are railing the berms up above.

TJ- I went through this just six months ago. I think about the fun we had over the years racing and traveling to races.

Calloused as it sounds, that is truly the way I would choose.

RIP.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.
11/26/2009 3:18pm
I had a simular crash in July, 80ft sx style double and while I was going up the face setting up for a pretty tweeked out scrub my buddies RM250 let out a massive BBrrraahhhhup (yama-bog for those who are not fluent in 2 stroke moto) and left me staring at the back side of a 10ft tall landing, pile drove the front tire into the backside, catapulted my self in lawn dart formation right into the bottom of the clay landing with the bike flipping end over end right at myself. Completely shattered my wrist, 4 screws, 2 pins, 8inch plate, ligament damage in both wrists, cartridge damage in both wrists, and a fracture in right wrist.

I still have no idea how I didn't break my neck since I landed head first, your in my prayers as well as your family and loved ones!

Really not the thread to post a "lemme tell you what happened to ME" story.

I have been through this.

WE have been through this.

If Ryan's family or friends would like to touch base with people who have had to deal with similar circumstances, I would be honoured to be your conduit.

The loss of Brian House was a lesson to so many of us...we have had some years to come to grips with this.

Just a thought. God bless, Ryan. God-Speed.
