I found the article below at MXA. I rode for Kelvin for a while in 1980 after Jeff Jennings moved on. Kelvin was a great guy and built some damn good bikes. The guy was way ahead of his time with some of his ideas. The photos are of me racing his bike for him in 1980 at Saddleback and a Corona Raceway at one of their GP's. 1W is Craig Gormley

GODSPEED! KELVIN FRANKS

The Franks Racing logo was attached to an array of exotic one-off motocross bikes.

Jeff Jennings raced for Kelvin at the Four-Stroke Nationals.

It is with regret that we inform you that Kelvin Franks passed away and will be laid to rest on December 12 in Adelaide, Australia. The Aussie was a one of the most creative minds in motocross and spent most of the 1970s and early '80s in the United States building custom, one-off motocross bikes. Kelvin was also a co-founder of the CMC racing organization in SoCal. He returned to Australia after his stint in the USA and opened up the Australian version of Franks Racing Products on Marion Road where he manufactured road race rear sets, triple clamps and clip-on handlebars bars.

Jeff Jennings on one of Kelvin's creations. I rode this bike at Saddleback once but never raced it.

I had been e-mailing kelvin and knew he was sick. I was sorry to hear that he passed away. I worked for kelvin for 5 years (got fired about 5 times too). it was cool to see 4130 tubing come into the shop and watch kelvin bend it into a frame then produce a motorcycle. RIP Kelvin. your friend, david
