The first superstar of our industry, what an awesome guy. Met him at Daytona about 5 years ago.

He had a little shop right down the road from Boutwell's in Cockeysville Maryland if anyone remembers it. I used to go over there quite a bit. He had his old racing leathers up on the wall and cool racing pictures everywhere. I remember one time I took a 1983 YZ125 cylinder in their (probably in 84/85) for him to check the bore out. He said "Looks ok, let me see what I can do with it." He proceeds to get out the grinder and start porting it. Did not charge me a dime. Very cool guy.

RIP Gary, you will be missed.

Great photo. Go in peace, GN, and thanks for the great rides.

Nixon helped put Kawasaki on the roadracing map back in the day...

My first roadrace hero. My flat-track hero, simply because he was Gary Nixon.

This news made my gut sink and my knees weak.

Met him at Laguna Seca 2009, he sat there and bullshitted with us for a few minutes, such a cool dude to talk to. I pointed him out to my Dad and Uncles and I though they were gonna shit! Two things I'd change about this picture, I wouldn't be the one holding the camera and I wouldn't have had them stand in front of his bike!!! RIP Gary Nixon.

Grand National Champion, twice I think.
A major player, when you raced both street and dirt, to capture the National #1.
I heard he was hurt pretty bad a few years ago, cutting down a tree, broke a hip or leg and kinda struggled with health since.

A great racer, from another time, when men were men.

"OK, which one of you sons of bitches is gonna finish second?"

Classic Nixon quote from a riders' meeting.

RIP Gary. Thanks for the memories.
