I wanted the Moto community to know we lost one of the passionate die-hard Moto riders from New England, Carl "Big Daddy" Decotis. Carl is Jimmy Decotis' father and has a huge family in Peabody, Mass. He was one of the most respected men in all of New England and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. Carl was racing at MX 207 when he crashed and broke his leg. He went to the hospital and then was released home but went back to the hospital because he wasn't feeling right. His levels were off and he suddenly passed away. This is all second hand information and all I know.
Carl had a home in Florida and invited anyone that wanted to ride to stay down there and I was lucky enough to spend a winter down there a few years ago and had the time of my life! His support to Jimmy's racing career was unbelievable and I've never met anyone so dedicated to Motocross!
His family was huge and his house on any given day had 20-30 people there to go riding. Jojo Keller was very close to Carl and they raced together for many years at NESC. Carl raced the 50+A class and was a excellent rider. His younger son, Carl Jr. turned Pro in 1998 and raced Unadilla along with Southwick before injuries slowed him down.
Carl is a legend in New England and truly one of the nicest, caring, giving people I've ever met. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with Carl and he lived life to the fullest! He provided his children with a beautiful home and all the resources to follow their dreams.
He will be greatly missed and if I find out anymore information about the wake I will post it up.
RIP: Carl "Big Daddy" Decotis

RIP Carl Decotis
In 1983 I broke a bone on my left foot....a day later I passed two blood clots from my foot up and through the heart and into my heart. Both blood clots within a 2 hour period. I was one in one hundred thousand (Twice) per the doctor I visited with the next day.
Again my sincere condolences to the his family
