Bubba should be thrown in the popo for having such a goofy ass truck, and for "DOH" moment of trying to pull over an off duty cop..he is the Eddie Murphy of motocross..

Who could forget that epic race. One of the very few times ya' saw RC get schooled.

Yanno, it wasn't until the top pros switch over to the 4-strokes that the 4-strokes really started winning...

Damn, that race was amazing. Did you guys see them at mxDn from 2000 or was it 2001? Tortelli managed to catch up to RC there as welll. Sure RC had him covered in general, but damn Tortelli had some crazy speed. To bad he was so uneven and was constantly injured? I remember him returning to Europe 03?04?, as a final hurray but it went bad from the beginning...

Yeah, RCs bike was crazy low. Imaging casing a jump with half the travel? He must have a butt of steel. Crazy little mofo.

That's just the thing. Tortelli was super fast, but he couldn't keep it under control. RC could, and did so for 10 years. Sure he had an occasional challenge from this guy or that guy. But for 30 minutes plus 2 laps, twice a day, 12 times per year, nobody could keep up with him and stay injury free. That's what makes him so awesome. On this day, however, RC was beat. One of only a few he was beat without crashing himself, and Tortelli runs out of gas. Unfortunate for him. That would have been awful to be in his shoes. RC said after the race he hates winning like that. I love watching RC on a Kawi, or a two stroke in general. Hell who am I kidding I love watching him ride period.

Tortelli was badass back then. I was at Glean Helen when he won his first national in '99. Blew everyone away that day.

A suspension guy told me RC liked his bike low and slow in the rear until late in his career.

RC - I don't need rear suspension thats what I got legs for. LOl

Its like the bike had no spring or the valve was shut off.

Shane Drew once told me that when RC rode for Honda, the bike would be swapping and bucking through the whoops and he would say "it's fine, don't touch it". lol When is came to suspension RC didn't care much.

Got to ride the entire track the very next day for the Tony D MX School. My favorite track in the country and one of my fondest days of riding ever. And how about the ol' Art Eckman/David Bailey duo? IMO the best commentating team to date, although Dave Despain and Larry Maiers were pretty killer too.

That was the first year I went to Red Bud, cant believe that will be 10 years ago this year! I have been to over half of the Red Bud nationals since then, finally got to ride the track last year on Sunday after the national. Rode the entire pro layout used the day before. This was the only amateur race last year at Red Bud that ran the whole pro track.

They kept it pretty watered for being a scorching hot day but MAN, did it get super rough. The first laps out on practice were very surreal, and going up the face of Larroco's Leap was definitely intimidating, the first few times. The only difference was the starting gate location, which was placed at the bottom of the Leap going toward the highway, huge right hand sweeper start right into the left before the Leap.

Red Bud is such a fun, yet demanding track! The most fun parts for me were the jumps because that was the only time to rest!

I would highly recommend attending this race if you are into moto, guaranteed to get your moneys worth no matter how you do in the results.

I love everything about Red Bud. I got tenth that day in Open B after crashing. Then I had to leave before my second moto for a deadline. But that is one of my best memories from the place. Track was amazing.
