RBSR 18 - 2 strokes only?

6/14/2018 5:15am Edited Date/Time 6/15/2018 8:29am
I keep hearing little chirps that straight rhythm is smoking section only this year. I haven’t found a definitive “YES” anywhere, so it’s sounding like speculation right now but for some reason I can see this happening.

Especially given the success of the two stroke class race last year. Anyone with information on this please come forward.

When you say 19, do you mean that the two stroke only rule wouldn’t take place until next year? Or is that a typo?

I was told a couple months ago that the early plan was to go two-stroke only for the 2018 version of the event. Considering there's so many off-season events these days, they want to make it more unique.

I would absolutely make the drive for that. When they had an amateur one near me that was probably the most fun race I've ever done, I'd love to hit another one.

Even better, an all 2 stroke amateur dayCool

Can you see many/any of the top guys jumping on a 2 stroke to do the event?

Some yes, some no. This event is the reason Ken Roczen was hunting down an older CR250R.

It depends on the timing of the event versus Monster Cup and other off-season events. Some Red Bull athletes will do it but I could see less athletes outside of their brand taking the time to do such a novelty event on novelty equipment. I see it being much more of a mix, some privateers, some vets of the sport, and a few current Red Bull athletes.

I’ve noticed that the guys who build the bikes for their pro riders are more than happy to do a two stroke build. The brackets will be full, I can promise you that.

Every fast schoolboy rider with a 125 will be there. They don’t even have to be knocking out big quads for it to be entertaining.

Probably won't happen but how rad would it be if Roczen showed up on MC's 1996 Honda CR250? Of course, the suspension would have to changed/modified to accommodate the size of the whoops and jumps. A man can dream right?

I was thinking more the risk factor of riding a relatively foreign bike on an unusual course before the start of the season. It would be cool, but I can’t see it happen. Red Bull will be interested in getting stars to attend more than worried about the devout 2 stroke crowd

Alta Blackout? 4 stroke Blackout? Bad idea. What makes it unique IMO is different open class stuff running together. It's the 4 stroke mafia not wanting to get beat again. Bring back TP199's 500 2t!

Better have a 125 class and Dungey needs to line up for this. RV2 + RD5 + 250's = Awesome.

Can't be the only one that wants to see that happen.

The 2-stroke class is sweet, don't get me wrong! But I don't know if the whole event should be 2-stroke only. Watching the factory dudes battle and stretch out some big jumps on their race bikes has been awesome to watch!!

The only fast pros showing up were the redbull guys anyway. It's a novelty event, go full novelty. Not having Alta would be a mistake however imo.

Nice to know that the 2019 KTM/Husky two strokes are novelty bikes. Btw, didn't a novelty bike win Erzberg a couple weeks ago? Weren't most of the hundreds of bikes in that race also novelty bikes? SillyEvil

MX events with no turns and no 4 strokes are a novelty at this point in time. Nothing against 2 stroke dirtbike, there's a couple in my garage Smile

Just watched the video... they let the Alta in so I'm assuming that means it's okay. They also has the #84 number plate at the end... Herlings a possibility??

Herlings appears to be on the list the 'bouncer's" holding. But also so is.. Jason Lawrence??

Ah man! And I was hoping to see coverage of the event! Get it? Because two strokes? I'll show myself out...
