I've read quite a few reviews/opinions/experiences on 6D's ATR 1 and 2 helmets. I noticed some are complaining about getting headaches during use due to pressure points in the helmet, most notably on top of their head.Thinking very seriously about upgrading from my Moto 9 to an ATR-2. Unfortunately, there aren't any dealers close by that carry the 6D. So trying one before purchasing is not an option. Anyone hear who wears the ATR-2 experience issues with pressure point/headache issues?

No issues here. Helmet is comfortable on me, but feels like I have a watermelon on my head

Mine fits great and is very comfy, even on all-day off road rides. Every head is different so not sure this is really of any use though.

I have tried a few of the premium helmets, TLD, Bell, Fly etc… and the 6D is what fits me the best and I have a lot of confidence in the product (so much so that I brought a second). Also their product support is brilliant!

The thing to note with helmets, as with anything gear related, is no ones body/head shape is the same and what works really well for one, won’t for another. The riders experiencing discomfort and/or headaches may have a head size/shape that’s just not compatible with the 6D’s.

Mine fits great after short break in period. Was a little tight at first. No headaches though.

My ATR-2 is a very comfortable helmet for me. Fits true to size. Best helmet on the market imo.

Very happy with my ATR-2’s, I’m on my 3rd currently and I think their fit is great on my Elvis sized XL dome!

There’s a thicker pad they sell that provides more cushion to the top of the head

Funny… I bought the XXL, because I had never had a helmet too big before. I wear a XXL in Bell Moto 9 and Moto 9 FLEX, along with Shoei and TLD helmets.
But the XXL was actually too big, so I bought XL liners and thicker cheek pads and they fit great. I have the FXR/6D collaboration models, but they are the same helmets.

The ATR-2 gave me excruciating headaches after about 50 minutes of having it on. Almost like clockwork. I pulled off while leading the A class in an off-road race to switch to my old Shoei and then never raced in the 6D again. I would still ride short practices in it because it feels great until about 45-50 minutes.

I'm sure this has more to do with the shape of my head than 6D, BUT I've never had this issue in any other helmet. It's a shame cause my red ATR-2 looks bitchin

edit: The XL pads don't work in the LG shell so I was SOL in that regard.

I had a similar experience, XL in the TLD SE4 but I run a large in the 6D.

My 6D was tight on my cheeks for the first 3 or so motos (first hour or so). Premium helmet no doubt. Does feel big on the head, but I quickly forget about it once riding

I got the ATR 2 about two months ago. I think they fit a little different than most helmets but definitely no headaches. After one day at the track it’s the only thing I wanted to wear. I would highly recommend the ATR 2.

I haven’t tried the ATR-2 yet, but I’ve had two of the -1’s. I’ve never had any discomfort issues, just the large sizing issue as noted above. I still wear the same size (L) as I always have, but had to go to thicker cheek pads. And my melon isn’t small, lol.

I am convinced that my first 6d saved my bacon a few years ago, so as long as I can wear one I will.

Bell street helmets...that’s another story. Picked one up when I bought my current street bike as I hadn’t ridden street in 10+ years...the large felt like a small. Picked up an Arai and it fit perfectly.

Never an issue , fit is true to size , goggle eye port fits most brands normal sized frames , I can’t say if over glasses fit well though
Best helmets I’ve owned and I’ve owned tld / arai / bell as well

Find a way to try them on. I went from the Moto9 to the ATR-1 and switched back to the Moto9 as it was more comfortable. They both are great helmets so it really just comes down to what fits your head.

I have the ATR2 and had the ATR1 before, both fit great, check pads are a little tight at first before break in, but no aches or issues.

I had to get thinner cheek pads and it fits great. The one thing I did notice is that it is louder. I thought my engine was making too much racket when I first wore it. The Arai is much quieter.

I went from Shoei VFX-W’s to 6D in 2015. I found them to fit my head similarly.

I’ve never noticed extra weight and find them to be very comfortable.

I strongly believe in the safety of the helmet, as well. I’ve bought several since 2015 and will continue to.

You may already know this or figured it out from others comments, but you can swap liners and cheekpads to "tune" fit. You can do that on many helmets. However, the way that 6D designs their helmets gives you more choices than most any brand. You can swap all thicknesses of liner and cheekpads within shells. In adddition to that, they sell "hybrid" size liners to help when people are in between sizes. If a size Large is too tight, you can take an XL helmet and put a thicker hybrid "L/XL" liner in it. Same with the It is taking the normal liner options and turning them into a better sizing tool, which is really smart. This should solve your concerns.

I switch between 3 helmets: ATR-2, Bell Flex, and the TLD SE4. The ATR-2 has a really comfortable liner and fits/ feels great in comparison to the other helmets. The ATR-1 was nowhere near as comfortable as the ATR-2. Don't base anything off of the ATR-1 as it was an inferior helmet in comfort. I'm size large in all of the helmets. The TLD is the lightest. The Bell moves around the least and blocks out the most noise. The ATR-2 is the most comfortable.

There you have it.

Had regular Moto 9 fit great, went to 6D ATR-2 for extra protection. Fit ok after changing pads (wear medium in bell/shoei, ordered medium 6d was too big. Got small pads and fit was better) but it felt "big". Went to back to Moto 9, carbon flex this time and definitely preferred helmet. Try them on, and make sure comfortable before shelling out the $$

Great input, all. Thank you. I'm going to order one from RMATV. Thinking with all the different liner and cheek piece options, I should be able to nail down the fit. If not, I can always return. Spoke at length with a sales rep at 6D and he felt the same.

Again, thanks everyone for the input.
