With the growing popularity of old 2 strokes at the tracks and all these awesome 2 stroke builds, it make you wonder why the manufacturers dont bring them back and put real R&D into them.

Ha, you could spend a week searching and finding treads about just that, right here on Vital. Basically, common sense and emotions newer correlates and there's no base for common sense to start with when talking about motocross. It's just cycles of madness.

Personally I think the build is a strike of genius, while I also think it's pretty retarded since there's already a YZ250 smoker to buy. I embrace this specific kind of stupidity though.

There are several reason for this build other then the obvious which is the looks and modernizing of the dated YZ250. We wanted to build something that will allow us to further develop new technologies into the bike (i.e. DFI and so on) and this build gives us the platform we need in order to do so. There are also several key technical changes that were made to enhance the handling especially cornering that is not obvious by looking at the pictures.

There will be more information available soon. We currently finishing up the final stage of the build and then we go into additional track testing of suspension and intake system setup followed by Dyno runs.

So does it handle better w/ the 450 frame??

Its a cool bike and all but to be honest..isn't the YZ250 pretty close to perfect. Every time i see one at the track, they are usually bone stock....cant say i can say the same for alot of other bikes, including my own cr250

Nice. Is that a YZ250F rolling chassis with a 2-stroke wedged in it, or some other frame option?

Did you say DFI?

Man, If you develop anything to update the YZ250, get ready for a big demand.

I am loving it. I too wanted to take a newer RMZ250 chassis and use the RM250 engine from my current build but it will need to wait a bit for the funds to become available for version-2 of my project.

This just makes me wonder even more why Yamaha just doesnt start producing these.

They have everything already set up for it, just some minor changes but everything else is pretty much the same to begin with.

Great build though. Bike looks good!

I'm saving for one right now. Any plans to build it for limited production?

I just noticed the Hydraulic clutch. Nice touch!
