Pro riders GoPro- gear changes?

Is it just me, or does it seem when you watch and listen to a pro rider that they sound like they have an endless amount of revs and can hold gears for ages?
I know they are changing gears mid air, but how come they seem to be it the meat of the power all the time?

Because they probably are in the meat of the power all the time, they spend so much time on their machines...

They don't wait for the bike to bog or over rev before changing gears. They can hear and feel when to shift to keep the bike in the power.
