Mulling the idea of picking up a 450. Found a nice 2016 KTM 450 SX-F with 50 hours. Has an FMF full exhaust. Otherwise stock condition.

What's a reasonable price for this?

PS: I know the 4CS suck. I have a set of AERs and set of WP CC forks to choose from in lieu of the 4CS.

opinion in great condition.

I saw a 2015.5 FE sell after a few hours that was listed at 6k. I would have paid 6k too.

The one I inquired about today is here:
https://lafayette.craigslist.org/mcy/6513502783.html
I would not pay that for it. Around 5k would be fair if it has under 30h.

Don’t listen to this guy. Only noticeable difference between the 16’ and 18’ while riding is the forks, and it sounds like the OP has that figured out. 16’ is a VERY good bike.

Eric,

The 4CS forks can be made to work, I'll be at Rio in the morning & you can try mine to see how they work for you.

Just another option for you.

+1 Frame cracks on 16-17 , harness problems on 16 , the worst forks EVER,shock suck, fuel pump made in Malaysia, goes out, electrical problems, headset bolt snaps of. I jumped the KTM boat also in 16 and learned my lesson, never again! The only good thing on Ktm is the engine rest of the stuff is junk, VOLKSWAGEN quality.

How is it some of you have these problems when others seem to go 100+ hours without anything outside of oil and filter changes? A class on rev limiter? Use pipe wrench and breaker bar when working on shit? Stoned or drunk while working on it? 45,000 psi pressure washer between motos and after?

Genuinely curious

I’m wondering the same thing. I have had zero issues with my 2016. It’s been a great bike and I really don’t have any complains.

Part of the perception, and it's true for any make/model/manufacturer of any kind of vehicle, is that no one comes here and says "hey I just hit XX hours and I've had no issues". But as soon as there is any kind of hiccup, user inflicted or not, the machine is the biggest piece of shit ever and everyone has to know about it.

Visit any forum of any vehicle, recreational product, etc. and its typical.

Yea u are right, I did not want to end up like my buddy. When I see my Frend's bike clapped out on track like that and my other Frend had cracked frame in four places also I sold my bike the some week. I know that Yamaha had some problems like that in 16-17 but I am sure that they fixed it in 18 !

Well said, I really don’t understand these stories. I am an A rider, and have put hundreds of hours on all brand bikes (including a 2016 KTM 450). They all have their pros and cons in performance and reliability. These bikes are mass produced with lots of moving parts, some are built better than others. If you dyno’ed 5 of the same model bikes off the showroom you’d shocked at the varying numbers you’d see.

It’s got to be a combination of bad/improper maintenance and bad luck to have a lot of the issues you hear about.

My 2016 ktm 450 had a front wheel blow out, a faulty fuel line, bad lower shock bearing, and the condenser went out 3rd gear tapped off a jump going down hill. I called ktm, had them fix it, and sold it immediately after. Luckily I had an extra bike because with all of those recalls I was without that bike for a few months. The bike felt like it had 100 hours on it and there were only 35. My bikes are very well maintained. Obviously every bike is different, and everyone has a different experience, but that is my experience with that bike and I would not advise anyone to ever buy one.
