In English...

Just like many other riders, Jorge Prado is in southern Europe for the necessary test work. From Italy we receive the news that the Spaniard has crashed hard today at the circuit of Mallagrotta near Rome. Many details are not yet known, but Prado is said to have suffered a fracture of the femur. That's a big damper for the Red Bull KTM De Carli Team. The MX2 world champion will switch to the heavier engines in the MXGP class next year. As soon as more details are known, read it here.

Not good news

Lewis Phillips confirms it on Twitter.

Edit: Now on MX Vice. "Reports suggest that the femur was fractured and exposed." Compound fracture? That would be bad, bad news. https://mxvice.com/122273/injury-news-jorge-prado

How long is recovery time as a rough guess for a compound femur?

26 years old...I compounded my femur and broke it into 3 pieces, severing my quadricep in half and a ton of bone shrapnel imbedding itself into my hamstring and quad muscle, which caused complications because my body kept trying to heal all the little pieces that surgeons couldn't remove. Basically my body thought the little shards of bone in my muscle were in need of repair which caused excruciating calcium buildups that felt like metal pellets. Ended up with hip to knee Ti rod, 8 screws, 12 days in hospital and 10 months of excruciating physical therapy before I could walk without a cain. Hope it's not that bad for him. Sucks!

Malcolm Stewart who broke his Femur in January 2019, rode the first time mid may 2019. I guess you need at least 8-12 weeks before you can even think about putting a lot of weight on your leg and start physical training again. My guess for his comeback would be his Home GP in Spain, April 2019.

What a bummer.... so sad to hear about that.
Hope he heal up quick and race soon.
Febvre broke his femur almost in september and started ride some days ago.

Never broke my femur, cringe every time I hear someone has. How the hell JH raced with one a few years ago I'll never know.... Me breaking a bone now does not worry me a bit, except for a femur. Scares me to death.... Heal up kiddo, don't rush it.
