Back in 1978 on my Kawasaki 125A4. One of my favorite bikes, it was rare to see another green machine at the track. This was at a practice track on Indian land n Palm Springs, tucked up tight against the mountains n the Indian Canyons . Very sacred land but one of the top dogs n the tribe was a MX nut.

I know Vital loves to take the one awkwardly timed photo of you and post it in every thread imaginable even when it's not relevant to make themselves look funny, but I have some decent shots of me from back when I rode.

My lovely starts - White plastics #410

It's a bummer I didn't really get a chance to race on big bikes, most of my racing was in the time span from December 06 until August 07 on 85s. I tried to qualify for LL in 07 but it was my first year racing and obviously wasn't quick enough to qualify for Supermini/85 (12-13).. then tried again in 08 but broke my legs while in qualifying position at the area qualifier at Comp Edge, then in 09 my brother signed me up for Schoolboy 2 when I only had a 125 and said we'd get me a 250f in time for the regional... that didn't happen so I didn't even bother showing up, then dislocated my shoulder preparing for the 2010 season. The rest is history, haven't raced (and barely ridden) since. I'm not making excuses, I'm just making excuses Silly

I can vouch for your riding ability. Saw it every Wednesday and some Monday's out at Piru. I swear we all lived there. The little kid that looked like he couldn't reach the ground on a big bike, but passed all of us while chasing his big brother.

Thanks dude. I know a lot of people called me a "piru pro" or whatever, but it was hard to not ride there when the owner let you in for free and it's 10 minutes from your house. Everyone on the East coast has the idea in their head that if you live in So-cal you're close to the mecca of motocross tracks, but in reality it's 3-4 hours of sitting in traffic both ways and that's not worth it every weekend when you have a track with free entry right down the road.

Hey man, I get it. Any of us from Santa Clarita, Ventura or Simi/TO area all rode there at least once or twice a week. It was the closest track and there was never any traffic to get there. I miss it even though I hated the prep before it closed and a few other things about it. Wish it was still there

I was shocked to drive bye Piru a few weeks ago and what used to be a motocross track is just a huge pile of sand! I wonder if the back canyon is still there, but grown over? or if they tore it down completely..

May not be huge air like others or even blowing up a berm but here is my favorite action shot of me. I believe this is in 1996 (Possibly 97) at the Pontiac Silverdome amateur day. They used to load up with entries pretty serious and there were over 160 in my class alone. This was Sunday and they had tamed the jumps down a bit and pretty much leveled the whoops. Anyway they were taking the first 3 or 4 from each race to advance. I made the finals and was basically a straightaway and a half from finishing in 4th. Top 3 checked out so I was taking it a bit easy just planning on bringing it in safe and someone was going for glory and took me out from behind. At this point I believe I was running in 2nd place. After you came out of the stands there was a bit of a dogleg so I have a pretty good gap on those guys.

I might not want to know the answer to this, but who was faster? Me or my brother? Grinning

That looks like a great memory! I'll always remember racing inside the MGM Grand at the arenacross finals. I raced against 250fs on my 125, made the main event (4th in the heat) but went down in the main and finished 12th. The result didnt really matter to me, saying I raced inside the MGM Grand was cool enough.

First race I ever ran at the dome was on a Saturday morning before the pros hit the track. To say that I didn't belong on stadium whoops is an understatement. lol You did hit the nail on the head though, It was so great just to be able to turn laps on that track.
