What sorta gas mileage does that rig get?
10-12 mpg, depending on how much of a hurry I'm in. 13-15 with a good tailwind. Smile

this past week i got to ride a full-on downhill bike for the first time, here in Chiang Mai, Thailand..... holy crap those things can take some punishment. I'd love to have one but wouldn't really get used all that much where I live

I've owned two downhill bikes and there really really fun but I'm kind of in the same situation my local riding is not enough for a full dh rig so I've got rid of all my bikes and bought one am bike . Im sure ill miss it when I'm at a bikepark but ill use the am bike every week instead of the dh bike 4 times a year.

Man, I wish this thread would have never started. I have a perfectly good intense spyder in my garage that I don't ride as much I should...and now all I wanna do is go spend more money and build up a Niner. I'm going to blame you assholes if my wife gets pissed, haha

don't worry, mountain bike guys are even more core than motocross guys. these days nobody can go out and enjoy themselves without a snob on better equipment raising their nose at them. the reason i don't go out to the track much anymore is the same reason i hate riding my mtn-bike on certain trails.

I hate all of you with 2014 S-Works Epics.

Here's an old picture of my ride at the Womble in Arkansas.

This is how it currently sits with my onboard riding coach. I don't even worry about how much my bike weighs anymore. It's irrelevant when you add a 15 lb seat and a 30 lb 1 year old. Good for training though.

I love the womble! Raced there a few times when I was in junior high/high school.

My Stumpy FSR 29er with Reba Team fork and full XTR. Love this bike. Don't know what it is, but I've tested the newer and higher end Stumpys at Specialized demo days, and they just aren't as fast as mine. XC season starts up here in two weeks and I'm ready to get some W's on this bike!

Salsa Spearfish is aluminum framed, carbon-wheeled 29'er, weighs in at about 26 lbs.

Titus RacerX is a pretty fun 26'er.

Specialized Stumpjumper EVO. 1x10 drivetrain; everything is carbon, weighs about 20 lbs.

This is from the day I bought the Stumpjumper. Don't worry, reflectors have been removed, and pedals changed out. Smile

Me with my '10 Epic overlooking the Tweed Valley, Glentress, Scottish Borders. It's set up more as a short travel trail bike rather than an out and out XC whippet, love this bike. It's running a full XT group, 2x10 gearing, mavic wheel set, Easton carbon bar, thomson x4 stem, seat clamp, reverb dropper, avid hsx floating rotors. Quite fancy a Canyon Spectral AL9.0 ex or stumpy FSR evo for a change and go back to Stumpy carbon HT for xc use.

This was taken at Loch Morlich, Aviemore whilst up north during the summer. I climbed Cairngorm Mountain and had the sweetest descent back down before my wife and kids had even woken for breakfast. One of my favourite days of 2013.

My daughter Ruby's first race wasn't on a MX bike but under pedal power. Competing in the mega mash, shortly after her 4th birthday on her '13 Hardrock 16 at the Tweedlove Festival in Peebles. It's hosting a round of the Enduro World Series this year which I'm pretty pumped about.

My wife on her '09 Safire FSR. We've got two kids under the age of 5 now so she doesn't hit the trails as much as she used to but hopefully that will change once our boy, Innis, is a bit older and we get him on two wheels.

Ruby dropping into a wee G-out at Glentress, it tickles me so much to see the enjoyment she gets from shredding the trails with her pops.

As you can see I'm a bit of a Specialized fan boy, had Specialized bikes since 1999.
Thanks for sharing. Great story and love the pics
