How does this happen to a top pro? He's a complete non factor. He was literally riding around sitting down looking at the leaders lapping him. There comes a point when you wonder how Yamaha feels about paying him. Ya, i get it...."he's a nice guy, don't be a hater"...but dang is he bad.

Yeah...I mean 12th on a track that was super basic, dry and slick in 450 SX is really awful.

First full year on a 450 coming from an awful injury from daytona last year. Everyone was about to give up on webb when his 450 career started off bad, APs and Coops last year of 250s were similar both titles now a rough start to 450s like coop. He started 17th finished 12th, tough night but the spread of fastest lap times from 1st to 16th was 1.6 seconds. His results last three rounds before SLC1 were 8,7,6. Guy has talent just needs time to grow.

He does seem like a super good guy - almost impossible not to like.

And while he was a top pro on a 250, he hasn't really been able to make that a reality on the 450 as he might be the least good of any racer with a factory ride.

I have to wonder about the bikes.

Was he simply on the best bike during his 250 days?

And is he now on a bike he just doesn't jell with?

I'm a Yamaha fan, but the big YZ hasn't had the greatest track record lately - aside from the occasional win that Barcia pulls out on one. But then even he normally goes back to at least off the podium if not outside the top 5.

And we all know what the #1 plate holder did his 1st year off the big YZ.

I'm drawing a blank on who the last rider was to be a consistent podium contender on a YZ450.

Maybe 2021 will be extra incentive for Mr. Plessinger as he isn't signed beyond that, right?

Hes not bad. Imo hes right where he should be. In the 250s he never was a webb or osborne status guy. Yea he won titles but just because he won them doesnt make him cooper or zach fast.

No signing beyond 21 so far correct. I could see him replacing bogle at RM/ATV.

His 450 results certainly make it questionable whether he'll stay a factory rider. You know McElrath and Ferrandis have to be eying up that spot.

But AP's defense, that track played to none of his strengths. No ruts, no mud, not rough. It was the last place in the world you'd expect him to shine. I hope the tracks get better for the next 6 rounds.

Plessinger is one of the guys I really want to see break through and take it to the next level (along with Mookie & Osbourne and probably a couple others).

I kind of am still hoping for that sloppy mud race where Plessinger comes out on top - and then hopefully a big boost of confidence with much better results.

Pless looked terrible yesterday.... Like a privateer saving equipment for the next round.... He may be keeping it safe till the nats... But if he is getting lapped at the nats, Yami may as well bench him... Not a good look for someone with the skills and pedigree to take the sport to the next level....

I agree. The timing of the series going on hiatus and then resuming and having 7 rounds on a hard, dusty, slick track really hurts AP. I get that it is the same for everyone, but he was just starting to come around at Daytona and he would have had a few more favourable tracks had we stayed on schedule. Indy, Detroit, Seattle, Foxborough, even Denver.

Unfortunately the economy's hit may not help for a 3rd bike unless it is a Gas Gas (which would be great!).

So far I see Bogle calling it a day. Frustrating because I think he could be top 5 top 8 but the big crash while someone cross jumped him unintentionnally killed his momentum and it seems he didn't recover. I really wish him well because concussions should be taken seriously.

Maybe the salary won't be great and a trade with Barcia's ride is not impossible. I still think it would be a better deal to sign with RMATV because there are more probabilities to score results than on the yzf. I am yam fan but that is just painful to watch their 450 effort. DV would be a huge asset to this team.

Then I think Cooper is on the top of list to replace Musquin the day he retires.

There is a lot of talk about how deep the 450 talent pool is- but you're looking at guys in fourth place that are 20 seconds down, Osborne in fifth 22 seconds down. Is that me or are those yawning gaps for a race of that duration?
Yet fourth through seventh were less than a second off Eli's fastest time. It's kind of weird.

I think Matthes and JT said last week that AP was staying and Barcia was going.. not too sure though
Plessinger already signed a contract extension. It was said that if Barcia ends up in the top 3 overall in the standings in either SX or MX, his contract is automatically renewed.

Husqvarna currently has 3 bikes. I'm not sure where Wilson is going next year, so moving the 3rd bike from Husky to the factory KTM tent could be possible.

I personally think Ferrandis will be on a factory bike. I don't see him riding for a factory supported team like RMATVMC.

I'm with you on Bogle. I wouldn't be surprised to see him call it a career and move on to other things.

Yamaha would be smart to keep Cooper. Younger and more upside than McElrath.

Tough crowd on AP7. More and more really good riders are moving and guys like AP7 and DW15 are shuffled back next year.
