The minimum salary for a practice squad punter is $8400 a week. Sounds like a good career choice to me!

Agreed, not even the top Dakar racers are paid 7 figures sign on and they are competing in the highest viewed motorsport event in the world.

I don't see AP wanting a long, lackluster, SX career. He knows what he is capable of in terms of GNC racing.

If he goes back to offroad, and I do believe he is good enough to win and for sure consistent enough to podium and win championships, he could make an equivalent salary over the next 5-10 years.

If his heart is in GNCC, so be it. But man, I'd pad that bank account while I can. GNCC will always be there.

I think if AP was to do that , it would be a huge mistake and something he would regret big time. One year ( his rookie year ) on a 450.....bad stuff can happen to nyone in their rookie year.. That guy has a ton of talent and deserves some leeway here. It's like walking up a flight of 10,000 steps , only to get to 9,990.....turning around and saying " screw it ". Christ , try a different bike / team , see what happens!
the sport of mx/sx is dying, its not a huge mistake if everyone can see the writing on the wall.

I hope he stays in SX for a bit and makes some good coin. I love seeing an off-road guy cross over and do well. A lot of people on the east coast start in the woods and transition to the track....I think it makes you a better all around rider.

Sign on Salary or including win/championship bonus?

I think that number is a tad high, the guys on pulp were saying 300/400k for top gncc guy
The clowns on pulp weren't talking about KR557 when they said that. That guy's making bank for sure.

The kid has talent and a lot of it. Not everyone has a great first year on the big bikes. If he chooses to continue with supercross I believe he becomes a factor. I expect big improvement come time for the Nationals. I believe he's going to be in the mix there very quick.

Yeah they've shown as much proof as anyone on here has.

Again top KTM dakar guys dont have salary of 1mil, i dont believe KR would be pulling in that much with sign on.

There are only a handful of guys in sx signing on for 1mil per year and it had a much higger viewership and industry support than GNCC

I didn't take it as him making fun of the idea. Just AP being funny is all.

Plus, I'm 99% sure that was James Stewart posting with a fake Aaron Plessinger account.

it doesn't take a genius to see that the sport is dying, suzuki pulling out, yamaha pulling MXGP support, its coming to a close, nationals aren't near as spectated as they used to be, and the privateer for Supercross is getting shit on.

CA to Maryland to CA

Really thats supposed to be in a privateers budget,

Don't be a sheep!

When your LOCAL cross country series gets over 700 riders on average just on big bikes Every weekend That is where the money will be, i don't know where you guys are getting these high paid amounts from?

Factory riders are getting paid good, but not anything near where you guys think, then they have to pay for a trainer, pay for a practice bike mechanic east and west coast, and then also still pay the facilities money to stay train and ride ...

It might be 300k overall on what they make, but they will spend slightly less than half of that to maintain (invest-in) themselves in order to keep their job.

If plessinger wants to ride something with a bigger fan base and more opportunities why would it be a bad thing?

Behind every Professional athlete there is a family, That family sticks together cause thats the only way that athlete became professional in the first place, I am sure plessinger's family will have his back in what ever he decides.

Have some faith.

Exactly. I'm sure Plessinger wouldn't make "as much" doing the GNCC series. But we all know a team will pay him comparable pay to Russell and Duvall. He will still make a really good living and racing a lot less.
But do they race less? Or just race less often? Gncc guy will spend over 40 hours a year in the saddle racing if gncc is all they do....throw in the NEPG series that most of them also do and that number doubles...granted it is only 13 gncc rounds and 10 nepg rounds...

You really think they averaged 51,300 per race with 3-4 rain races ? 😬..

It moved to a new network of similar size and it the ratings went up ? 😬 .. when sports move networks it generally takes a dip.

I am all for growth, it just doesn’t pass the sniff test of honesty for me . I hope it does see an uptick this year . Lots of empty upper decks last year.

100% agree on the attendance question. No way they averaged 51K. We go to Oakland every year (other rounds from time to time) and I would say at Oakland the stadium is only a little over 50% full by the time you get to the main events, looks like similar attendance at many other rounds as well. Many sections largely empty. Note that the bulk of these stadiums only hold 60-70K at capacity, so 51.3K means at the average race the stadium is 70-85% full? Maybe 51K is the average number of tickets sold, or its just a marketing department taking some license?

Also... I know that he used to race offroad, but at what level? Was he top level talent when he switched over to moto, or just a fast amateur? Would he even be anywhere near the lead after specializing in MX and SX? Or how tight can he throw a spiral?

He last raced three XC2 Pro class races in 2013 as a 16-year-old. His best finish was 1st in class, 4th overall at Steele Creek.
