I heard ML and Jerry Robin (on pulp last week) say they heard Aaron Plessinger was going back to offroad after this season. I haven't heard anything else about it, but it didnt sound like a hot take from those guys. Just curious if anyone else knows anything, it would be devastating to pro sx and mx if he did leave, so I hope its just an unfounded rumor.

Why would it be devastating?

A bit of hyperbole, but the guy brings personality to the sport. At least up until this point he has. His talent alone needs to be showcased at the top level

It was brought up on the pulp 459 preview as well , but the panel seemed to think he would not take that big of a pay cut yet , and he would still be ok the radar for some good 450 rides if Yamaha does not keep him

He could race offroad for a year, and then race 250's again. Seems like he's not a 450 guy, or not a yamaha 450 guy.

Pretty small sample size everyone's going off when they write him off.

Not many people hit the ground running on a 450 immediately, and i think he was worse off because of his size everyone assumed he would've been a no brainer to kill it immediately. Lets give him another season or two before we stick a fork in him.

I think if AP was to do that , it would be a huge mistake and something he would regret big time. One year ( his rookie year ) on a 450.....bad stuff can happen to nyone in their rookie year.. That guy has a ton of talent and deserves some leeway here. It's like walking up a flight of 10,000 steps , only to get to 9,990.....turning around and saying " screw it ". Christ , try a different bike / team , see what happens!

The guy destroyed his foot and now he’s such a disappointment that he’s about to be out of the sport.....

I think he’ll be fine with a healthy season.

RC crashed his brains out his rookie year. He got smoked. Pless will be way better this year

Could race to his late 20s early 30s then move back over to Off/Road and earn $ for a few more years.

While he wasn't lighting the world on fire, it's not even like Plessinger was particularly bad in SX last year. He was in top 10 six of eight rounds he raced prior to getting hurt in Daytona, with a best finish of 5th... so his pace was squarely in the middle third of factory riders as a rookie.

Maybe he just enjoys riding/racing offroad better? Sometimes money isn’t everything in life. If he wants to race gncc instead of the grinder “sx” good for him.

One year ago he was coming off a double-championship year, and now he's almost done?

I could see it happening.

If he could go back to GNCC and dethrone Russell he'd line himself up for some pretty good pay days in a less stressful line of work. Probably be a longer, healthier, happier career.

I hope he does it.

He is talented, he is personable, if he stays healthy he may be able to get a ride on another brand (sad that Yamaha is just the kiss of death in 450's)

If he cannot get a good ride, he will either be on a Yamaha longer, race Canada MX or will race GNCC.

450 class has eaten up bigger fish than AP. If he makes it, cool. If not everyone will be fine.

I hope he does but the field is always competitive. Always

Technically it was a 125 title in 99. But he also moved up early only two years of 125sx. 2000 was way better

Nope, AP's gear deal is probably more than kalib russel's whole package.
Russell is 7 figures...

All in with bonus he’ll be 7 figures, without bonus, I’d put him in the 600k mark. He’s not spending 150k to be on Aldon’s program and not have a minimum triple return on investment.
