She's probably trying to detonate an IED, but doesn't have service because she has T-Mobile. Oh, is that disrespectful...
Yes it is... I prefer Verizon myself...

I never understood what the military has to do with sporting events in the first place..
for that matter why even play the national anthem?

And why do the uniformed flag trotters need to be present? Its a sporting event.. I always felt, "ugh, why am i pretending to be so patriotic when i am so far from it"? what does this have to do with SX, shit half the riders are from France, HA

I guess i see her point.. But in Texas?, wow that's pretty ballsy.. Luckily she wasn't flogged or drug behind a dually , (which might be legal in Texas).

Just as long as her religion doesn't prevent her from issuing marriage licenses to gay people...

To force everyone to stand and remove their hats makes it less an honor bestowed by those who do.

Why not rejoice that nearly everyone in that stadium CHOSE to honor the sacrifices made by our heroes and gave thanks for the blessings of liberty?

You can bet that not everyone in N. Korea really believes in his "fearless leader," but they sure as hell all stand when the parade goes by. Those who want to see another day do, anyway.

Who honestly cares?

It's her choice. " Freedom and Liberty. " are the basis of the ideals that form american culture.

Why are we so adamant about not allowing others freedom and liberty? ? ?

There used to be a Muslim NBA player that wouldn't stand for the national anthem. I believe some consider it against their religious beliefs to pledge allegiance to a non Muslim country. So, her intention isn't necessarily to be outright disrespectful but looking at her phone during it certainly gives a bad impression. She is free to stand or not and everyone else is free to criticize her or not.

This past weekend Jenny Taft referred to Marcus Luttrell as "Morgan Luttrell." If you're going to do a piece on a guy that's largely seen as a war hero, you should show respect and make sure they story is accurate.

I agree that what she did is disrespectful, but letting it anger you will only ruin your day and won't effect her.

You're kidding, right? It was Morgan Luttrell, Marcus L's twin brother! Both were SEALs.
Yep...identical twins.
And there's a pretty funny rumor about them.
Each went through different BUD's classes.
During BUD's one replaced the other for a few days and tricked the instructors.
Brandon Webb talked about it on SOFRep radio some time ago.
Pretty funny stuff and it worked - instructors couldn't tell them apart . Smile

To add something positive I decided to add something. I used to be a drummer not a guitar player so I picked up a guitar and recorded the Star Spangled Banner. Sure it's not good but what the heck.

That sounds better than the night Ace played it at A1.
Aces was more distorted with feedback and I'd assume he was wasted. LOL

Thank you. I was sober. Perhaps Ace could have done better. I am a drummer for God's sake.

Yeah,he always does shit like that.
Has something in it that ignites and it pours smoke.
I remember back in the late 1970's he had a guitar that would shoot sky rockets out of it during KISS performances.
Here s one of him shooting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqwdl1CpWhI Watch at about 6minutes in.

The military is there to properly display the flag of the United States of America, and to ensure that the proper protocols are followed with regard to the display of that flag, along with what it represents. We honor our flag, as it represents our freedom and the rights and privileges we enjoy as American citizens. Not only that, but the "uniformed flag trotters" as you refer to them, are people who have volunteered to lay down their lives if need be, to protect the freedoms we hold so dear as citizens of the United States of America. I am not a member of the U.S. armed forces...I am a volunteer firefighter and EMT. I do not merely remove my cap when the national anthem is performed or played. I salute my flag, because I honor the principles it represents, and I honor my daughter, who has enlisted in the armed forces, because she believes service to one's country is an honorable pursuit.

I think the OP's point is largely being missed. The assumption is that the ME lady couldn't give a shit less about America. . . and for those who feel that way, Rosebud, you included, why do you stay in America? You want a socialistic utopia, and if that is what you want, why don't you simply move somewhere that already has those values?

Could someone explain why having a hat/cap on is disrespectful?

Aside from pulling your pants off and showing people your dick during the anthem, I see no normal garment creating a disturbance or impeding the event unless the hat has lights and speakers on it.

I've had this conversation with my in-laws before, where they think that hats should be removed during dinner. I asked them if ladies should have to remove bows from their hair? I always stand and take my hat off during the anthem, but I don't get what the big hang up is on hats off..... Standing at attention with or without a hat should suffice.

I know this will be popular but we just had this discussion. I am old and went to catholic school for elementary and some middle. We had the pledge of allegiance and the national anthem daily. For the pledge we were taught hats off, hand on heart. For the anthem, we were taught hats off, hands to side or clasped in front and a hand on your heart then could actually get you detention. lol People were recently bitching about people not putting their hand on their heart for the anthem and I just pointed out that we were taught a little different but I do put my hand on my heart for both for twenty years now. I remember when the hand on heart started to be more popular and it was just confusing so everyone started doing it and it is great but if you search the national anthem in the 80's no one has hand on heart, even all the people on the stage have hands to side or clasped in front. These people got so mad and posted anthem etiquette articles but the fact is it was not mandatory until recently which as I said is a good thing.

Catholic school kid here, too. Discipline was certainly a major subject. I had a teacher actually schedule a meeting with my parents to express her concern over my future due to my interest in motorcycles.

Hey huck. I got bored and looked it up, interesting read:

http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2011/03/why-we-are-supposed-to-…

Like most things, its so skewed and manipulated from the origin, it just becomes something totally new. I did learn that its US law to take a hat off for none military male citizens during the anthem, but "no penalty listed for failure to comply"
