And cities cops aren't allowed to chase?

Good thing the country has it figured out.....

"He's very experienced. Takes bikes to racing events."

I don't buy it. How many people here think they could easily out run police on a dirtbike? Start the count at me. Anybody else ?

Unfortunately when I was 19 I did the same thing. they didn't have a chance lol I never even got close to getting caught.....Roads with farms and forests make getting away on a dirtbike a piece of cake..... I don't however condone this behavior..... Unless you are a trained professional like a wheelie boy, then it is OK....

When I was a teenager we had many more places to ride than we do now but we had to either cross the 2 lane road or ride the road for as little as a 100 yards to 1/4 mile. Depends on where we were wanting to go. Now days, everyone from 4 wheelers to SUV's to golf carts ride on the road with no trouble. But back then the police would try and catch you if you so much as looked at the road. My record was 6 cop cars at once. I was riding to my ridding buddy's house when they got on me. That day, I escaped but like a dumb ass, I had to play with them for a while. My friend also fired up his bike and got them after him for a while as well. That is why there were so many. I made a quicker get away and was home in about 20 minutes. My friend led them on an epic chase for about 40 minutes. They would have had to set a Tiger trap before they would have caught us. We were both A riders on our home trails. They didn't stand a chance. They might have known who we were but hey weren't going to catch us. When I got home, I changed clothes and rode down the road to my Grandmothers house on my bicycle. You could see the road from her house and she saw the whole thing from her porch swing. I sat beside her and she asked if that was me they were chasing and had to inform me that I was going to get caught. Grandma was cool. She agreed that if I got caught that she would pay my ticket if I mowed her lawn for the rest of the summer (which I already mowed every week anyway). So I thought I would get started, I got the lawn mower out and here comes my buddy on his bicycle coming up the road. We were standing by the road talking and a cop car pulls up. I thought they were going to grab us and start writing tickets. I about pissed my pants when he jumped out of his car and ran up to us, stopped and asked us frantically, Have you boys seen 2 guys on motorcycles? lol I was like no, not for about an hour.
That was one of many chases. The one time they got us, we were on state property beside a lake and pulled off the side talking when a game warden pulled up. I told them my name was Jeff Ward and my buddy said he was Rick Johnson. He let us go, but it was hard not to laugh when he said Jeff and Rick, I'm going to be on the look out for you two and better not catch you here again.

What's crazy though is generally, if you get pulled over on a dirt bike, and actually cooperate, the officer will just say, park it and don't ride on public roads. I was stopped once. I always run my bike around the block when I change the oil. Once time a cop saw me, I explained that I just wanted to warm it up to change the oil and all I got was a warning. The second you commit to running, shit escalates. Now he's $24k in the hole for bond.

Glad it ended the way it did. From a police perspective, we can't win. If you don't chase them and they hurt someone, people wanna know why you let a dangerous person just get away. If you chase them and they wind up getting hurt, people wanna know why you didn't just let them go because it was just a kid having fun. Last weekend my department had a similar incident. Six guys from a neighboring city decided to ride their ATV's to our local park. We received a couple 911 calls on them driving recklessly and located them. Of course they refused to stop and we chased them. It wound up with one crashing and destroying his ATV but no injuries. When it was all said and done...two idiots in jail, four ATV's in impound and use waiting on the other four suspects that escaped to show up to claim their ATV's and citations.

Ran from the cops MANY times...but it was easy for me...five houses up the street from my parents house was millions of acres of BLM land. Once we hit dirt, they'd never catch us.

I remember one time, they were chasing a buddy around town for like an hour, and they called out a helicopter (I think it was a highway patrol heli or something like that)...that day he got busted. He rode around till he ran out of gas...then was toast. because he was a minor, he got a slap on the wrist...and because he was a minor His parents, got a bill for the helicopter, I believe.

The guy already had felonies and had to know he would get more. Dude is 19 and collecting more on his record. He has no idea how this stuff will haunt him for the rest of his life. I just don't see how drugs would not be involved.

Back in the early 70's in AZ we would desert ride on vacant fields which was frowned upon by homeowners as urban sprawl encroached on our riding areas. I used to run from the cops sometimes and always made it home safely until one of my friends got caught.

The next time I bolted from them I got home and the cop was having coffee with my dad waiting for me. My "friend" had ratted all of us out and now the cops knew who we were and where we lived. I got a citation (I was underage so only a fine) but dear dad told me if it ever happened again my beloved 1973 Yamaha MX100 was gone.

I started playing by the rules then.

Yes I'm aware but 19 is not a teenager in my book, it's an adult

It just wouldn't be complete without a Monster logo on the graphics.

You can be an adult and a teen at the same time. Go look at just about any porn site for a quick demonstration.

I've run from cops a few times and never got caught. I lived in a town where there wasn't exactly a huge dragnet going on. We had plenty of dirt roads and trails connecting the whole town and I could easily get places faster on dirt than they could get via road.

I've ran and got away, I've had cops ignore me, and I've been pulled over as a very young kid and been treated like total shit. Really depends on the cop.

I'm feeling a different vibe compared to every other thread about dudes riding wheelies on the street and running from the cops. Can't quite put my finger on it though...

Back when I was a kid, some local teen tried running from a cop on his motorcycle.
Tried to cut through an open field with a cop hot on his tail.
Slid out trying to make an evasive turn and proceeded to get steam-rolled by the cop car.
Kid was DOA.
