Ordered AND PAID for a pair of 2014 Fox instincts in white size 12 on Dec. 21st. I emailed three times in the last week wondering where my shipping info was at. They finally emailed my back yesterday to say they sold out of those and wanted me to give them an extra $250 and they would send out the "current" model year. I called and they basically said too bad. I felt they should give me a screaming deal on the 15's since it was they're fault that they took 9 DAYS to pull my order. But they said "we won't give you a deal on current model boots". THEN I get an email saying "Sorry, we don't have the boots you ordered and we didnt charge your credit card" Bullshit!!!! My card was charged on the 21st and I paid it off on the 27th. Obviously never buying from Chaparral racing again. Piss poor.
They're really good about getting orders out to their customers and making sure everything is right, as well.
The Shop
I once complimented this KFC worker for his splendid customer service, i went online and gave his name to head office bla bla, and all i got back was a thanks.
I was at least expecting a years free of bucket meals, whenever i so desire
Happens everywhere, your not special...sorry...move on, is it really THAT upsetting?
Worthy of its own thread? NO...
The problem with many local shops is that they are either stuck in the past, too concerned with squeezing every ounce of margin out of a product to be competitive on pricing, or they employ "enthusiasts" who don't have the slightest clue about what it takes to build and maintain customer relationships. Both BTO and RMC get it, so I choose to give them my business.
This is a hot button for me...if you can't tell.
BTO or Rocky Mountain are my two main places...occasionally I'll drop by the local Cycle Gear store or the local Yamaha dealership if I'm in the neighborhood.
I'm all for supported local shops but if they can't stock anything, which I understand why they don't, then there isn't a need for me to buy from them.
Pit Row
as for supporting local shops, i buy everything i can locally and we also do that all winter with our local SkiDoo dealer.
Chaparral, can't say much as i've only been once and the dude that helped me was really nice and easy to deal with
I'll gladly support online retailers who support pro racing. I almost exclusively buy from motosport because of all they've done with Jimmy Albertson
Rocky Mountain
BTO
RockyMountainATV is where my money goes for 100% of moto gear and parts. About to place a pretty hefty order to them in January to get my bike up to par for my next race season.
And I agree with Hvaughn about local shops being less than helpful. There are probably helpful shops out there, but I usually end up leaving to place an order online anyways because they stock very few parts in the stores.
Zero customer service 15 years ago and it still rings true today.
From that point on all my accessories where bought online. With no tax and free shipping, hard to beat.
With my triathlon bike (cost more than my first dirt bike), I make an effort to buy a few things from his local shop. The owner goes out of his way to service me, gives free tune ups, and always takes care of me if I have a bike emergency - ie an issue the day before a big race, he drops what he's doing and fixes me up straight away. Great service and a very helpful attitude keeps me coming back. I never had anything close to that from our local mx shops.
