About a month ago I picked up a 2001 Suzuki RM125 for
abou $900 bucks. Ive put alot of work into it and got it running
now. Frame is off at powdercoat. New plastics/graphics etc
on the way, new top end, still some little things to tie up. I
was just kinda curious as to what you guys thought for a pipe.
It has the R304 silencer with the stock pipe but as any 125 guy
knows your gonna need everything you can get out of it. Yes yes
I knowww I need to get the 144 kit. But Im 19 and cant really shit
$1100 dollars. Anyways! I attached a pic so you guys could see
the $900 dollar miracle haha. Lets hear some exhaust ideas.

I have no idea. Some of the other pipes say 97-01 so I would check.

Seriously, I don't want to be a party popper here, but the day you use that oem pipe with the PC muffler to it's full potential, film it, put it on youtube and let us have this discussion again.

Sure some pipes are adding power on the top, some in others areas. I had the 304 for both my CR and my YZ and it felt they where less in high rpm compared to the HGS I later used.

But did it really do anything for my riding? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Repack this sucker and put the money in a better helmet, a Leatt, Asterisk Cell etc.

By the way, great price for that bike and congrats. I have thoughts buying a RM from 01 in the near future to build a replica of this bike.

After suspension there is about nothing more important than additional horsepower on a 125. In fact a stock 2001 RM 125 was terrible without a little love.
If that was mine I would make sure the suspension is done for your ability/ weight. It already has some decent bars on it so skip that. I would send the cylinder to Bills, get one of their pipes, repack the silencer you have and ride the piss outta that thing. If you can spring for it get a v-force reed cage.
After you bend those bars that are on it try a set of these bars.

If you really feel for changing the pipe, read tests, go for a used one on E-bay. I'm sure you can find a complete system for less than $ 100. My suggestion if you really want bling and according to some the best system is to find a PC pipe to add on that muffler. But again, if you are on a limited budget you are wasting your money.

I couldnt agree with you more on alot of the things your saying.
I just figured since its the 1st bike Ive ever bought myself Im gonna
hang onto it. Make it a kick ass bike with everything you could ever
want. Over time of course, then maybe give it to my kid one day or
something. I dont even ride a whole lot anymore to be honest. Just
a project bike thing haha.

I've got a brand new FMF SST pipe and powercore 2 silencer for a 2001 RM125 if you are interested. They are still new in the box. I bought them for my 2001 RM125, but never got around to installing them. You can shoot me a message if you are interested.

i did send him my stock parts and i assembled the whole thing but if you arent afraid of working on your bike you could save a bunch on shipping and labour charges. if you do get the kit be careful while checking the crank bearings and the rod because your bike could need those parts too or else the cylinder could be damaged.

and from what i read at his site www.forwardmotion.com.mx your 2001 rm wont need case mods so it will be as easy as dissasembling your bikes top end send your complete topend to him get back the modded topend and reassemble. piece of cake and way more performance per dollar than a pipe or a v- force.

I actually have a brand new Bill's pipe here for that bike.

One small problem, I took off the bottom bracket... can't remember why... it was a pipe I bought for dyno testing at the time to see how it compared.

You can have it for $75 plus shipping... just have to fabricate that missing bracket.

X2 on the SST!! I put the SST with a short silencer on my kids 01 RM125 with a V Force reed valve, shaved a little on the head to bump up compression and added a programmable Dyna FS ignition. Add 2 teeth over stock on the rear sprocket. The bike ripped. Stock it is a high rpm rocketship. Excellent bike though, lightweight, corners like it's on rails and the brakes were great. Missed it so much that he recently picked up an 04 or 05 RM125 about a year ago.

MX is a braindead sport, and all the gadgets are retarded for a slow fuck like myself, but it makes me happy, and obviously you are on the same path.

Just make sure that at some point one needs to stop doing crazy stuff though (since you are on a limited budget), I bought so many things to my previous bike that half the garage was filled with pointless bling stuff. Ebay is poison. If I had spend the same money on a newer bike I would have been better of no doubt. So at one point it goes from passion to madness.

Happy hunting! Smile
