From RacerX - Ask Ping: An outdoor 125 series is likely to happen next year...... during the nationals.

And "test pilot for the Mexican space program". lmao.

Yeah, a "triple crown" at three races in each of 3 zones, with a runoff at Indiana at the end.

Who's got 125cc "National Champion" for 2018????? I'm more excited for this than any other racing all year.

If true, I hope we'll be able to watch those races online. Coolest thing since they've left the scene back in '04-'05.

Now we just need to have equal displacement in the 250 class and they're golden.

Can we skip Supercross? Better yet bring them indoors.

I have a revolutionary idea, why dont we have 3 classes:125, 250 and open?

You better quit using logic around here, it gets you nowhere.

Excellent idea gents! But there is one manufacturer who would not be happy with this setup.

And everyone acts like James Stewart came out of retirement for a "ride day."

He heard this news and saw the bat signal.

Zero Fs given.

I'm so tired of hearing that the manufacturers don't want to go back to 2-strokes... give me a break. If Honda doesn't want to build a 2-stroke, then they can neglect that class and concentrate on their 4-strokes. Bring on the races!

There will be 3 unhappy OEMs.

Yep and they can all go fuck themselves in my opinion.

Don't like it? Here's an idea, start producing them again and maybe just maybe they will sell.

I saw a new TM 250 2 stroke last weekend. It was the first one I've ever seen in person so there out there somewhere.

A 125 series would be freaking amazing. I was at Unadilla this year and you always new when Gared Steinke was coming. The roar of the crowd every lap was impressive. People still love two strokes...whether you ride one or not....

I agree screw Honda kawie n Suzuki they don't make one to f'ing bad. The brand swm the old italy cagiva/husky has a new 125 mxer and 85 coming out as 2019 models.

If beta n sherco made thier 125 enduro into mx models that be a few more.

MX Sports should have done this years ago.

How the dirt bike industry can continue to ignore the popularity of the two stroke is beyond me. It was stupid to get rid of them at the pro level in the first place and this sport has suffered heavily for it.

Have a read: http://mxworksbike.com/index.php/component/content/article?id=26:1972-h…

Especially the "Honda will never build a 2-stroke motorcycle!" part.

Yep and Honda aren't the powerhouse anymore so they can fuck themselves from the sidelines.
Hope this happens

If this thread had the title "2 strokes are back at the AMA Nationals" we would be on page 5 already.

Now if they don't have some insane rules about what you can run, the field will be interesting.

As mentioned Sherco and Beta have brand new models that haven't even hit the U.S. yet. Both have downsized frames and all new engines with the latest technology, Sherco with standard e-start and Beta optional. If you can make a 20 year old Japanese bike competitive, there is no doubt these things could do the job.
