Shot my first race in 2000 on FILM, been shooting consistently at the races from the stands since 2007.
I was finally able to secure a vest & this was my first time shooting from the floor. An amazing experience and I hope there are more to come in the future.

And just what was SHE doing there?

She told me she couldn't come over last weekend 'cause she had an ear infection. An ear infection my eye! Erin you got some splainin' to do. All will be forgiven if you make it up to me this weekend. I'll wait for your call.

Ah-nevermind. The pics appear to be protected for some reason....

so I've got a question, pretty basic one of you photos can help me, during this photo below, the dunlop on the front fender issue....Is that photographer, skills, type of camera, settings, etc...just curious. I've never done photos before (obviously) so what REALLY makes that difference?

Ok, show us your top three images and why they are your top three. What story do they tell?

From what I understand of your question you are wondering about why the dunlop is not so much in focus why the rear fender is. Some of that is settings. The lower the aperture the less amount of focal range, but allows the most light in, (faster shutter are able to be used). When I'm shooting from the stands I'm so much farther away that I need the bigger aperture to use a faster shutter speed, and with the distance the focal range covers most if not all of the bike and rider. However when you are this close to the action the focal range becomes much smaller, hence the front fender it out of focus(it is the pretty much the closest object to the lens) and the rest of the bike which is farther away is in focus.

Lenses also have a certain distance from an object that is needed to be able to focus.
