Five years ago I traded my Ranger in for a Minivan....finally got myself another pickup, it's a 95' F350 with a full size bed, looking for ideas regarding anchor points (it currently has none)placement, type, products,etc... Want to go as low-budget/DIY as possible, all suggestions appreciated. Also, any tips/hacks for setting up rig/pit would be great! Thanks!

On my Tacoma I used eye hooks. Now I don’t have any water drain holes though, but beats the cheap ass anchors they have on the side railings of the truck

Load your stuff the same exact way every time. You’ll know exactly where you will have room for whatever else you want to bring on some days

Son of a Bitch. "Detroit Dick" starts a thread "pickup tips and tricks" and we're talking about trucks. Not cool bro.

Congrats on the OBS! I’ve been building a 95 as of late too.

On a previous truck I took 3/8 plate inside and outside of the lower front corners of the bed and then ran 2 I bolts through each. I wouldn’t just bolt them directly to the bed without reinforcement. Also, a piece of shallow strut bolted to the top front rail with the spring nuts gives you movable mounting points. As previously mentioned, pop up hooks for all 6 of the bed rail holes are solid but you can also hook tie downs in there without them.

All those mount points look too high and will let the back wheel flop around. I would use some backing plates and put good eye bolts in the floor of the truck.

Nope they work great. I never had one till a year ago because I didn’t think it was worth it. Totally worth it! The tie down points work perfectly, especially for more than one bike.

Huh ??
I’ve had one in my truck(s) for over 20 years, best way to tie down your bikes in a pick up truck, IMO ! Not sure why you would say that....

You mad, bruh?....perhaps your sensitivities are a bit "delicate", or maybe your sprocket bolts are incorrectly torqued...

The bed buddy is great, but I like this much better:

But this is not low-budget/DIY, but worth the money IMO.

get the OEM ford hooks for the bed. Throw in an ezup and some folding chairs and you got a nice pit setup. Pro taper straps are the best. Dont waste time with ratchet straps.

"Back in the Day" (77-87) i was a punk rock singer/guitarist who used "Dick Thrust" as my "professional" name, but when I got older and switched to rockabilly/blues/jump swing, I changed it to Detroit Dick as Dick Thrust didn't feel right when I hit my 30's.....I'm from Detroit, Dick is short for my actual name (Richard), and one friend had been calling me "Detroit" for years, so it kinda fell into place.....either way, I've always been a bit of a "dick"....cheers!

I literally just installed a CCR Bed Buddy this past weekend. Don't know what took me so long... I've been hauling two bikes around almost every weekend for a decade. Two roadracing bikes. Two dual sport bikes. Two MX bikes... you name it (wife and I).

This past weekend... loaded the two bikes with the Bed Buddy.. holy shit! So much nicer.

CCR Bed Buddy
I second the CCR Bed Buddy. I've had mine in my '03 Tacoma since day 1 and the bed is still straight as an arrow and it's easy to load up two bikes. On an F350 you'd have plenty of room for three bikes.

Do you have to drill holes in your bed to install it?

What band/bands in the 77-87 era?
