I want to start using my phone with a gps lap timer to log my laptimes when practicing, any of you know about a good one that is not difficult to access each time I want to start or stop the app and is strong enough so it does not goes fliying when bouncing with the bike? I will use and old iphone 4 for this purpose but I would prefere not to throw it into the woods Laughing

I did that once. The only reason the bar pad is duct taped is because it was cracked really bad from roost. The case is zip tied on and you can just remove the phone. I also did it so the bar pad can come on and off without cutting the zip ties.

I was looking for one with a support to attach directly to the bar, put I liked this homemade one better. I use a renthal fatbar so no barpad but I will do something similar. Thanks

I've been scheming on doing something similar for a while now, but the app I wanted to get was quite pricey and I'm a cheap ass. I have some thin aluminium sheets that I could make a case out of and then use velcro straps to attach it to the bar pad. Will probably try put something together of December.

What app is everyone using?

I have one on my street bike that is awesome. It can swivel and is a hard case that's waterproof and it was really cheap. I actually just stumbled across it at another store one time. Unfortunately, I got it for my iPhone 4 and haven't found another one yet for the 6. I'll try to get a pic when I get home and post it

Crap, just realized that the one on my street bike is probably not gonna be a good option since you have a bar pad

You won't be able to see it while riding anyway. Just stick it in your boot. It works fine.

Try Racechrono app for Android. It is the bomb and free.

This is what I used to use, lifeproof case with their belt clip (bought on sale for $7) and the belt clip tywrapped to the handle bars, I just used it to control my gopro app and get speed measurements though

Does anybody remember the phone case that Tits was always advertising for on the Pulp? He works for them now I think?

All these mounts reminded me that I've been wanting to upgrade my phone case for my 6plus w/ some kind of durable/action case. I'm really liking the Hitcase. Lots of cool options. I need something for my dualsport.

Lifeproof got a holder especially designer for bar-mount aswell. I do use the case and think they make good products.

You win!!! Actually that is the app I use, and you win with the boot thing..... note because I am cheap but I really do not need to see it, just have the times at the end of the practice, and will be where it is more protected. Thanks

The bar pad has a purpose. I have no interest in mounting a phone where my chin MAY land.
It would be great though to have a mount for my back fender and be able to track progress.
Checking out racechrono now.

Not sure I'd do a phone (versus a LITpro or Garmin), but here's another option. http://www.rokform.com/biking
A second for Rokform stuff. I’ve used the bicycle mount on my road bike with great success and just started using the motorcycle mount on my dual sport Husky. Does require the Rokform case but I’ve had one on every iPhone I’ve bought. Great customer service as well. www.rokform.com
