Sorry if this is old news or a double post but I searched and didn’t see anything. I’m not on any social media so I’m just hearing about it thru friends. I’m curious what class he will race.

Probably ride the morning race and do Industry if I had to guess, I don't think he wants anything to do with the afternoon race these days.

He's also racing the Dirt Track race right now, just saw on Instagram he was 10th after the first practice, right behind Kody Kopp who some believe (myself included) to be a future champ. Kody just won the Horizon Award for Dirt Track last year. TP is unreal.....

Big props to TP199 and Sipes this weekend as it is an 8 hour drive from ATL TT to Ironman GNCC for a Sunday 10am start time. Rock on. Hope they are flying and GNCC bikes are at the track.

Ah nice thanks. Lol still running the 2002 acerbis hand guards.

I almost threw up when I saw those hand guards.

You’re right though 10-20th if he finishes or takes it somewhat seriously.

TP199 is still really fast. His talent alone will carry him to beat 99.9% of us mortals. If he’s somewhat fit, I bet he will be inside the top 5 overall in the morning race. Sipes should win it easily without any mechanicals or injuries.

The WXC speed has picked up a great deal since it's inception. They usually overall. I am sure Sipes will win by about 5 min if he takes it seriously and does not plow into any of the 800 C riders on the track ,though

How u mean?

Pro is 3 hour race plus sportsman is non points paying, I’m sure he doesn’t want to interfere with any pros points. Tbh I wouldn’t be shocked if he doesn’t win the AM overall. I know he’s a bad dude but there’s plenty of heavy hitters who regularly race woods in the AM. Ex gncc pros like himself, pro moto guys, pro mechanics etc... if Chris Bach shows up and runs AM/sportsman my moneys on him.

Don't take this in any way as my being against either Sipes or Pastrana.

As they have just raced a Pro Class at the TT, and Sipes has done at least one 250SX this year, I'd think that being allowed to race in a Pro Class (Pastrana : doing it for the first time to my recollection? - Sipes having done the multiple disciplines of MC Sport at the highest levels for a few years now) would mean they could / should race the Pro Class at the GNCC. It's a bit weird to one day be allowed into a Pro Class, but then the next day being allowed to 'drop down' a class. As I think their previous levels in other branches of MC sport, have given them the right to do a Pro Level Flat Track / TT.

It might be a hard ask for Travis, perhaps with fitness and all his injuries (and I'm pretty sure it's all about fun for him) , but The General should be able to cope.

I rarely see more than 12 /16 Pros in the 450 XC1 Pro class at GNCC, so, they'd up those numbers. And yes, I know there are hundreds, if not a couple of thousand overall entrants at GNCCs. But rarely, much more than the numbers I mentioned in the Premier class. I do find that strange, but heck, maybe they : DC & Co, have extremely high standards for the XC1 class. XC2 Pro and the 125 Pro class, have far bigger numbers. And often, there's a few 250s in the top 5 / 10 overall.

As I wrote, this is not about any hate towards the two. They are both supremely talented, and great blokes as well.

^^ If they had a Vet Pro class, it would be equivalent to a Sportsman A? Travis is 37 and Sipes 34. It is confusing between the disciplines. Even if I had the ability, don't think they'd let me try to qualify for AFT Singles night program, but Travis has a few more connections, follows, and a shit ton more skill. In the end, it's entertainment I guess.

Zach Osborne (ya know, the 450 outdoor champ) ran a couple gncc’s when rona first hit and outdoors was on hold. He was around a 7-12th place guy (off the top of my head) as you said in a field of 14 or so.

I’m not trying to make this a debate of mx vs xc guys but I think they just want to have fun with it and aren’t really trying to be king of the hill. By the time the PM bikes hit the track it’s seen many hours of bikes and quads, is rough as hell, not to mention most of the spectators/fans are gone, plus as mentioned before it’s 3 brutal hours.

IF they wanted to subject themselves to all of that, I don’t think they’d do great in pro. I know all of their accolades and accomplishments but the rest of pro class are already accustomed to the pace, conditioning needed, bike setup, race strategy etc. and yea, I know sipes was a damn good woods rider when he was doing that.

Pastrana has race at least one of these before
Correct, pro class Florida 2008. Lead the first lap on a rm250 and I believe finished 17th.

Doug Henry won the Florida opener in 05 I think and beat an extremely dominant Juha Salminen, who was from Finland and was a sand specialist. Crossed the line and collapsed and was taken out on a stretcher with a IV due to severe over exertion and dehydration.

RIP to Pastrana’s knees, I don’t know how they still work? Everytime I see his post race knee pictures they’re so swollen unless he’s had some work done to clean them up.

No doubt, a lot of mileage. When I looked up his age for another thread, I was surprised he was "only" 37. Good on him!

Tp199 had a good one on one of the gnarliest creek hops I’ve scene. It’s on stew Baylor’s story.

Fun to watch the Dirt Track race yesterday... but Ryan Sipes won that Dollar bet with Travis.
American Flat Track is one of my favorite championships
