TUSCOLA COUNTY (WJRT) -- (03/11/10)--A Motorcross enthusiast is in a Tuscola County Jail on a parole violation. But there's more to the story.
Police are collecting evidence in a criminal sexual conduct investigation that spreads across the country and even into Canada.
They even found one potential victim in the same jail cell with the man whose accused of the crimes.
David Mack, 49, was first charged with criminal sexual conduct, but pleaded guilty to child abuse.
Investigators are now talking to three other victims, two of which have ties to the Motorcross world.
"We understand he interacted with a number of teenage boys in Motorcross," said Tuscola County Prosecutor Mark Reene.
Mack pleaded guilty to child abuse in 2008.
"(It) involved a 13-year-old victim," Reene said. "He had actually provided intoxicating beverages to the victim, and committed acts of molestation hereafter."
Reene says Mack spent a year in jail but violated his parole last month when he failed to get sex offender treatment. When Mack was put in his jail cell, Reene says something unusual happened.
"One of the strangest things that we've experienced," he said. "While he is being lodged in the cell, somebody that is already there identifies him as a person that molested him previously."
A corrections officer was called in and the two men were separated. Two more alleged victims are talking to police in Lapeer and Canada, claiming Mack molested them.
At least two of the victims met Mack through Motorcross activity.
"He worked with the motorcycles, showing the boys how to ride, acting as a mechanic, that sort of thing," Reene said.
A family member of the first boy Mack was convicted of molesting worries about other victims.
"Kids there, they can't defend themselves," the family member said. "They need someone to defend them, and I'm going to try to do that as best I can."
Reene is asking anyone with information that might be helpful in this investigation to give the Michigan State Police in Lapeer a phone call.

I know who many of them are, there are more, I'm sure, that I'm unaware of.
If you are into young athletic people, what better environment than your local MX track... and cameras are so common...
It doesn't matter what the activity might be, the sickos will find their way in and put themselves in positions where their presence is unquestioned.
Where are your kids? Who are they with?
What year(s) and Class(es)?
Seems to me a kid in motocross would tell some kook to back the F up off them.
It's not like most MX kids are these Emo kids with no self esteem that let the football players kick their ass on a daily basis.
That way of thinking is a great set up for this sort of stuff to happen. A kid is a kid.
As RACEGUY asked, where are your kids and who are they with?
i have been in moto for a long time
but i have never heard of anything like this.
but i do keep to my self and dont talk to many
people.
i bet this happens a lot more than we think.
hope the victims get some justice.
I also was told about a part owner of a famous 70's so cal MX hop-up shop that had an Infinity for young boy's he moved to the mid west to do the same thing. In the 90's I was told he finally got caught.
Thats letting them off too easy.
