Pala finale weather forecast.......Heat wave

Edited Date/Time 9/1/2022 2:48pm
If this forecast holds we are in for a bit of a scorcher with triple digit temps. This is a bummer for spectators. As for the track, it could really mix things up with a super dry track or an over watered layer on a dry base. I was planning on going but I'll admit I probably sit on the beach and watch on my iPad if this holds:

The place already looks like another planet. 100 heat will be only fitting for that shit hole.

I went to the 1st round. My only real complaint is that a lot of the track is higher than the spectating areas. Banners line the track so all you see is shoulders and heads. Never ridden there so...no comment on that aspect. Wear a good hat and slather on the sun block.

It’s too hot for Texas or SE US to have a national, but not too hot for Pala to have one, or two…

100 degrees with 90% humidity is a whole different animal.

I grew up in that Texas soup. Never bothered me as a kid. Most folks liken it to getting hit in the face with a scoop shovel.Pinch

I'm glad you posted this, I am heading to Ironman and then heading back to LA for Pala, but looking at this I think I'll skip it and go somewhere beachy instead haha

I’m from the South and was at the last Pala national last year and it was HOT. Went sit in the van with the a/c on for a bit.

Got fam coming in town for it next week. Looking like its going to be another scorcher.

I thrive in it. I love when it's hot. Can't understand how it bothers some people so much.

I cry when it's 65*F out too so there's that.

I used to love the heat until I had a heat stroke. Not so much now.

PAGING BRENT! (Or anyone else) Was curious if you’re attending & if you’re bringing the water set up again? It was really nice to be able to rinse my bike off after that first practice. Im sure it’ll be flooded 🙄

That is pretty warm for Pala. Usually when it gets into the 100's in the inland areas it's 10° cooler there.

Would’ve been an awesome track to end a great season of The Great Outdoors at.

I’ve seen Eli go ballistic at Glen Helen but with the way Chase is riding right now who knows🤑🤑 just a much better and real old school motocross track IMO!! Fitting for a great season finale!!

I got heat stroke about a month ago. Was riding a lot for previous weeks, and then spent a Sunday in the back 40 clearing brush on a warm, humid day. Felt fine all day, drank good fluids. That eve sitting on the porch having a cold beer and next thing I knew I was on the ground, covered in sweat like I'd been hosed down and nauseous as hell. 911 call, a ride to the ER, and 3 bags of fluid later I went home. It was not fun. I'm old (59) but very fit and it kicked my ass for a couple days. I know I wasn't hydrating enough on Saturday and it caught up to me. Never again.

No comparison in humidity between west coast tracks and the southeast.

We've been lucky with a cooler National summer than years past but with 89 this weekend for Ironman and triple digits for Pala, buckle up buttercup.

That’s what I like about it. It’s a pretty straightforward analysis of how tough you are, what you can handle, and how well you can prepare. I enjoy the hydration games, the visceral feelings. All of it.

You are not young anymore...you gotta be careful. Buy some of these grape electrolytes and chug a ton of water with it next time before you start drinking the beer...this stuff tastes really good:

I figured this thread was about the heat wave from Sexton's insane speed as he takes home this title. Yes that was corny as hell

I hear ya. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. Drank plenty of water, but was reminded electrolytes are real. After getting two IV bags, the ER tech said drinking all that plain water actually made matters worse, lowering my mineral levels in my blood.

Needless to say, I’ve tried many many different electrolyte mixes. Pedialyte SPORT is the best I’ve found. It’s not just salt & sugar. Most mixes are high on salt & that’s it, including Ryno’s mix. Pedialyte SPORT actually has over 10% of your daily value In each calcium, magnesium, sodium, & potassium. Also, drink lemon water. Eat cucumbers. Celery. Etc.
