The Shop
KTM-50 to race on
kids don't "grow" into bikes like shoes, don't buy the KTM SR. thinking your saving money.
If you want your kid to watch you wrench on the bike more than he rides it, KTM.
If he is not able to keep the clutch locked up, air circulating through the radiators on the KTM you will see the following occur:
1) Clutch generating excessive heat from slippage.
2) Engine overheating from combination of clutch heat and lack of air flow.
3) Stator failure from excessive heat .
4) Engine seizure from excessive heat.
They run good with a competent rider who can ride it fast enough to keep the clutch engaged / locked up and air flowing through the radiators.
Stop and go, throttle blipping beginners are sure to see some of, if not all, the chain of events listed above.
KTM = Keep Two Machines or Keep Two Mechanics.
If you want something reliable, that will stay running without 30 minute maintenance intervals, buy any PW/CRF/TTR 50 before KTM
What I really wanna know is what kind of maintenance hours I'm looking at compared to other 2 stroke 50s
