Strength obviously helps you on the trail, but is there any scientific facts arguing that this works better over more traditional strength training?

Yes, it would transfer to the track but it is not a all in one and done exercise equipment. It would be good for maximizing a workout for core, back, upper chest and shoulders if pressed for time.

Go to google and research studies on stability training for sports. Theres your scientific evidence.

Its common knowledge that stability training improves athletic performance.
