Championship-Winning, Race-Developed RM-Z and RM Motocross Bikes Return for 2012

BREA, Calif. June 17, 2011 – Suzuki is pleased to announce the arrival of its 2012 motocross lineup with the new RM-Z450, RM-Z250, RM85L and RM85 models. These class-leading motocross bikes reflect development through a long history of Suzuki’s motocross racing teams that have won numerous championships and produced countless wins in Outdoor Motocross, Supercross, GNCC off-road and World MX1 series.

“These championship-winning motocross bikes represent years of fine-tuning, featuring advanced technology developed through Suzuki’s domination on racetracks around the world,” said Suzuki Senior Communications Manager Steve Bortolamedi, “We are excited to introduce these class-leading machines for 2012.”

The 2012 RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 boast many class-leading features including fully-adjustable Showa inverted front suspension, Suzuki Fuel Injection, and powerful four-stroke liquid-cooled four-valve engines that produce balanced, effective power with strong mid-range torque and responsive acceleration for impressive performance on the track. A slim, lightweight twin-spar aluminum chassis and swingarm give the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 superb high-speed traction and unrivaled handling over tough tracks. The 2012 RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 have been updated with new styling and advances to make them the most lightweight, powerful and potent motocross machines available.

The 2012 RM85 and RM85L carry on the powerful tradition of racing excellence in the Suzuki RM and RM-Z family. Their robust two-stroke engines produce smooth power at any RPM, with an emphasis on low- to mid-range performance. Like all Suzuki motocross bikes, the RM85 and RM85L deliver class-leading handling performance, appreciated by both experienced racers and future champions. With its smooth power delivery, loads of mid-range and lightweight handling, the 2012 RM85 and RM85L are perfect motocross bikes for those that are just learning to race – and to win!

I didn't honestly know they still sold the 85's here. I thought they ended with the big bikes?

" THE most light weight and powerful"? If thats true, get in line for one of those 450's! The 2011's didn't last long on the dealers floors around here, i wonder if they will ship a decent amount this year?

We havent had an 85 in years, or option to get one, and as a matter of fact we couldnt even get a big bike from this year. Suzuki makes a hell of a bike, sucks they wont ship them

Wow, interesting about the 85's. I don't remember seeing the RM250 online in the US sided online either. I saw it on Australias etc, but I thought it was removed from the US side. I guess the really cool thing about that, even if not sold here and it is only in other countries. Atleast they didn't put on stickers and call it a 2012 model RM250. They priced accordingly too. Kudos to Suzuki for that. Just think, RM250 $6,099 could have been getting $7,199 for some BNG.

Hopefully it's just 1 more year before they start bringing the Actual RM's here again, for all those people who want a yellow bike, but don't want a gas-boiler.

Their RM line is known for being one of the best bikes of all time, and it never boils it's gas and dies just becuse the race happens on a hot day.

The imitation RM's with the Z in there are OK as farm bikes, or maybe for riding on rainy days when you don't want to get your good bike all crudded up, but it's pointless to buy one of those for a pit bike until you can get an RM to use in the races...

I don't get why Suzuki has been only selling the put put bikes for a couple years making us wait for the race bikes to be sold again.

Is there a new tariff levied against fast, light bikes coming into the US???

What is there to change? If you have ridden an 11 model, you wouldn't want drastic changes.

people that have them love them but it seems that you cannot buy one anywhere! I figure if i get one i will be able to win by at least 30 seconds over any Honda and a minute over any Kawi!

Seriously, where is a dealer with one on hand?

Here's something GuyB convienently left out from Suzukicycles.com:

2008 RM250
Superior Fire Power

"The '07 Suzuki RM250 was awesome, dominating magazine shootouts and racetracks around the nation with unmatched performance and laser sharp handling.

Of course, when our engineers get on a roll, there's no stopping them. Race-proven performance and handling characteristics combined with more low to mid-range power and increased torque at high RPM provides maximum performance on any track you ride. Plus, Renthal tapered aluminum handlebars come as standard equipment!

The best thing about this year's RM250, though, is what stays the same. It still offers a better combination of power and handling than any competitor on the track. And that's a winning combination you can use to take home the gold!"

It looks like Suzuki is going to sell the the 2008 RM250 this year. Yes, its an '08 model but they are importing it for sale in the US. Unfortunately, it looks like the RM125 will not be available. It's amazing how things seem to not get reported.

Dsigner was obviously being sarcastic. EIther way, Suzuki brought back the RM250 for 2012. I'm sure they will monitor sales this year.

It'd be cool to see a 150SX out there.
