Beird?
Really happy for Zach! Dream season.

Better to remain silent and thought a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Might order a pizza, take a nap, doesn't really matter.

Yes....

And I hope he does... nice to see 8 back out there on Zach.

Finally! The 8 back in action would be cool.

He can run a small 33 in front of the 8. Amateur number was 338.

Although the 7 will technically be available per the rule book, Zach wouldn't want the drama involved in taking the 7.

I remember years ago Grant commenting on the 8... "It looks the same upside down as right side up"... Grant was a crasher at the time... LOL

Isn't number 7 up for grabs now? No points scored by Stew for the year, so it should be available.

I think many would be up in arms if it IS and Osborne did take it.

Who would be up in arms? I question why, he earned it as far as the rules say and also as far as the ethics of moto say.

I still miss the old earn your number the year before deal, but 8 is twice as good as 16.

I think a rider should have to win a 450 title or at least a certain number of 450 points plus a 250 championship before being eligible for a single digit.

everyone said the same thing when baggett took 4 from carmichael and it ended up not even being a big deal. gotta race to keep the number. honestly when i think of stew i think of 259 not 7 so if zach wants it he should not feel weird at all

|

8/19/2017 10:46 PM

So if #7 is not taken & JS did return next year, can he run it? Since he didn't earn any points this year?

Really? 6, it's like time stood still...

I think it is closer to 11 since full time, 10 since he was part timing it.

He may take the 8 but you probably won't see it on his bike much because it will have the # 1 on it next year unless he switches coasts for SX or jumps up to 450's.....

I think 1-9 should have been reserved for 450 champions and 10-19 for 250 champions but the cat is already out of the bag. Personally, I'd pick 9 because I think it's a good looking number.

I really like that idea, and also the 9.

Edit: problem is there wouldn't be a single single digit out there right now haha

Think he will be running number 1 next year if he stays on 250s as per the rules. He can still reserve a number for the following year if he doesn't win again.

I'm old school, and like riders running the number of the place they wound up in the proceeding years championship rather than them "owning a number"...but I think Zach running the "8" is fine. Like was posted earlier...it looked good on Damon Bradshaw's white Yamaha, so it'll look good on the Husky.

|

8/20/2017 7:54 AM

I like the #8 and it will look great in his bike when he races
The 450 in the outdoors next summer
But i would still rather see everyone run the number they earn from the previous year
Every year ( No Permanent numbers)

I honestly prefer a permanent number like they have now. It allows for them to build a brand and it is easily recognizable. I remember as a kid, sometimes wondering who was who in quick video edits or flipping through a photo as each year they would have different numbers. It would get nuts when another honda rider had the same number that RJ had the year before, first glance in the new year I think RJ then go on to realize it was not him.

Earning the number you want and building your brand is good for business, and the way MX is these days, they could use every little bit they can get.

That would be great, but then only Stew & Dung would be the only two with a top 9 number.

He's riding 450's outdoors next year so, we will see it then. He said in that interview he was defending the 250 sx and riding 450's outdoors.

|

8/20/2017 10:22 AM

I like the permanent number system. The number earning stuff is confusing. I can't handle all the numbers changes involved with that. It's just annoying. Zacho running the 8 would be good. I still remember him as #338 from his time in MXGP.

Cool, I was wondering about that.

The 8 looks great

1+6=7

I say he should take 7
