Saw alot of people saying they used this but never saw what the mixture is or whether to buy the powder stuff or the liquid stuff. I plan on keeping it in a bucket. So how much should I mix with water?

Pro-x oil filters.
Use the powder oxyclean. Mix a scoop into a couple gallons of warm water. I usually dump the water out after cleaning a few filters, the water becomes pretty dirty after a few washes. Don’t forget to rinse the filter with fresh water once it’s clean.

I use no-toil air filter oil. Oxiclean works to remove the dirt and oil from the filter. I usually fill my sink 1/4 up with water and then add a scoop of powder. After my filter looks clean I'll drain the water, and keep rinsing the filter under running water. Squeeze dry, then hang for a few days, I have multiple filters.

ProX for oil filter. Change every oil change (5hrs sometimes less).

I use TSP - Tri-Sodium Phosphate. You can usually get it at the grocery store, if not Lowe's/Home Depot has it in the cleaner section. A lot of painters use it to clean interior walls before painting. It's an alternative to Oxiclean and can be bought in bulk for really cheap.

I have an old shot glass I use to measure it out with. Use 1-2 scoops of a shot glass in a sink of HOT water (I've used a 5-gallon bucket in the past as well filled halfway). I put the TSP directly on the outside of the filter and then toss it in to the sink as its filling up. Let it soak for 15 minutes or so and rinse. Don't usually have to do any scrubbing other than the lip where I have put filter grease. I don't think you could put too much Oxiclean/TSP in to cause a problem.

I use No Toil oil on a Twin Air filter.

Oxiclean with No Toil.
(Does Oxiclean work with traditional petroleum based filter oils?)

No. I tried it before I switched to no toil.

I don’t use oxyclean, but heads up on hot water. I’ve lost a few filters from the water being too hot and the glue in the filter s******* the bed. They separated right at the rim seating foam on the inner filter.

I'm currently using chainsaw bar oil for my filter. Anyone know if the oxiclean works/would work?

I wash my filters with dish soap after oxi/no toil cleaner. My filters seem to last quite a bit longer

3 cheers for Oxyclean (the powder). I typically use Uni or Maxima air filter cleaner first to break up the heavy oil followed by a 15-30 minute soak in warm water + Oxyclean. Ratio doesn't really matter. I usually use a cup full of Oxy. Thorough rinse again with warm water and they're clean as a whistle.

No Toil is basically pure sodium carbonate. Oxiclean is sodium carbonate plus a few different chems. For the money I'd just look to buy the sodium carbonate in bulk, probably will be labeled as soda ash. That should be even cheaper than oxiclean.

If it hasn't been made clear already by everyone, Oxyclean will not clean air filters with petroleum based filter oil, it can only be used if you're also using No-Toil filter oil. The No-toil/Oxyclean combination is the best thing going, and almost makes cleaning and oiling filters enjoyable. You can oil and clean the filters in the kitchen sink.

I cant prove it, but I came up with oxyclean as an alternative to the no toil cleaner many moons ago on a long since defunct moto forum.... its amazing how its use has taken off.

It's not chemically the same as the no toil cleaner, but works the same way.

Oxyclean is nothing more than hydrogen peroxide once it's combined with water.

Adding peroxide to water will have the exact same effect.

It's Sodium PERcarbonate. When added to water it forms hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate (which is caustic thus driving the pH up). So it is high pH (good for cleaning) and it is an oxidizer which breaks up organic materials.

Correct, oxyclean is mildly alkaline and I am assuming the sticky no toil stuff is a mild acid that gets pulled into the water.

Not quite caustic on the grand whole scheme of alkalinity.

Btw. I think the nontoil cleaner is sodium carbonate, that's where I got the oxiclean idea from

I use no toil red oil. Throw the filters in the washing machine with a few scoops of oxiclean, and they are clean in 15 minutes without me touching them.

I have a bucket with 5 liters of turpentine in it. Dip the air filters in the bucket, swirl them around then rinse out under a tap. Use the same turps for nearly a year running 4 bikes then when its completely full of dirt I get a new one.

Oil air filter with silkolene air filter oil, if I'm going to a sand track I will put grease around the lip of the filter. Never lost an engine doing this

Gas, then whip-it dry. then let air dry. then joy dish water soap and hot water. Let dry over night. Oil it up, DONE! Or buy a replaceable/throwaway.

I use the twin air bio oil. Will oxiclean work with that? I currently use twin air bio dirt remover to clean them.

Since my parents own a pool company i have access to soda ash/sodium carbonate for very cheap. I may have to try this. Just switched from Maxima Fab 1 to PJ1, but i may have to go back to no toil....

You should. I used to be an avid maxima and pj1 user. No toil is better in every way.

I use awsome orange from dollar tree to clean my bike and filters. Try it you wont be disappointed. Spray on filter and hose off top to get most off. Then soak in it and spray off. Buy the refills 1/2 gallon for a dollar and put in pump sprayer. Spray bike down hose off

What filter oil are you using?
