I don't think there is anything that is going to slow Osborne down other than himself. Dude has been a tank for the last couple of years. Can't wait for him to move up and see what he has for the 450 class. He's got the mentality that seems like it would compete well with Tomac. I'd love to see if he has the speed to keep up with him.

I've been saying this exact thing, It's defiantly past time for him to be with the big boys but i understand why he stayed on the 250 and to defend his outdoor title, before people come in this thread and start crying about him still in the lites class he explains it pretty well in the new Great Outdoors movie. But like you said I think once he get's comfortable and settled in he'll give them a run for their money like Hill did in Tampa. Once Zacho is on the move he's like a freight train coming through.

Osborn was asked to stay in the 250 class, and offered more money by Husky.

He gets a lot of crap here for being older than the rest, but I'm a big fan. Hope he wins the outdoor and then rocks it when he moves up to the 450's. What a turn around for this guy from a few years ago, that doesn't happen very often.

The 450 could stop him. Just like it did webb. old age is creeping fast on him too. No telling when that will hit.

I can respect a title defense year but would rather seen him on a 450 , same with JMart. I hope he does well but could see him wadding it riding the 450 like he does the 250. Hope not tho

There aren't many guys that race past his age and win a lot.

I hope he can defy that trend.

I don't think he will be able to keep up with tomac in terms of speed. That's not saying he won't win a championship against him though. He's got the consistency factor that tomac doesn't have. Especially in SX. I think Osborne will have the speed of Musquin.

Old age? Cairoli is still very competitive at 32 and he signed a two year contract extension that will see him out there until at least 2020. I think he'll still be competive for those 2 years.

Martin Davalos turned 31 this year and he was competitive on the 450 last year. Still a front runner in SX.

Justin Brayton is 34 and won an SX race just this year and Osborne is a better rider than him.

Brett Metcalfe was still competitive late in his US career and he'll be 34 this year.

Zach turns 30 in September 2019.

Osborne has looked great on a 250 and there is very little standing in his way to this outdoor title. That said, I will be absolutely shocked if he ever wins a title on a 450. Age takes its toll no matter who you are. He is an excellent rider but dipping your toes in the 450's for the first time at 30 and expecting to be a serious contender is a very tall order.

I think his hangtown times were about the same as Tomacs. Of course it’s hard to compare when the track is constantly changing in between motos.

Yeah that means absolutely nothing. We have seen guys on 250s put down lap times comparable to the 450s for years then they can't match when when they move to 450s. Remember Baggett in the 250 class? He was unreal. He had lap times right up there with the top 450s. Yet he only has a few wins in how many seasons on a 450.

Yep it’s apples to oranges. Some tracks will lend themselves to the 250’s. Keep in mind this isn’t your local 250 with a pipe and hot cam lol. These are flat out race bikes prob only made to last 10 hours before they blow. They prob have more usable power on certain conditions and can rev to the moon. In the right hands it’s the perfect bike. You can hang it out on a 250 a little more and not get into to much trouble. Pin that 450 through some rollers going into a corner hanging off the back and see what happens lol

I legit like Zacho. He’s one of my favs. He’s a lot like Webb on the 250. He’s aggressive, puts it where he wants and just cranks it out. However his starts are like Webb’s too- not so good. It doesn’t matter now because wherever he is he just rips on through. I don’t see him in the 450 class starting 8-10 and blowing by Webb, Peick, Wilson, Barcia, Brayton, Anderson, Roczen, Musquin etc to get to Tomac

I agree that not many move up to the 450 class at 30 since most move up way before that. That said it doesn't mean that it's going to take 4 years for Osborne to be competitive on the 450. For all we know he could move up next year and instantly be a title contender or move up and never adapt.

Personally I don't think he'll struggle to adapt to the bigger bike and I think we'll see him upfront in 2019.

Tomac will be turning 26 this November so for all we know he could sign his last contract this year and call it a career after 2020.

He has about two years...then it’s retirement, he isn’t gonna make it past the two year learning curve that the 450 requires for most. Just my opinion and it’s not anymore wrong than yours...before you get all butt hurt...

how many people have won a 450 championship after the age of 27 in USA ?? Osborne could be the first , but most expected Webb to do great in 450 class too .. so far he hasnt been to great . its not easy to switch to big bike
5/24/2018 10:24am

I just said that he'd be competitive not that he was going to move up and be winning championships.

Personally I think he'll do better than what Webb has shows thus far.

I really hope 28 -29 isn't "old age", if it is I guess I need to learn shuffleboard and get a flomax prescription

He looked so fast at Hangtown. Dude seems to have his mind 100% in the game.

I don't think he will be one of those guys who struggles to adapt to the 450. By the time A1 2019 comes around, he will most likely have pounded out a ridiculous number of laps on a 450 practice racing against Marvin.

Not sure you'll ever see me get butthurt. . . Ha.

I also don't like making predictions like he's going to be a champion immediately, but I will say it would be cool to see, and I wouldn't be totally surprised. Agreed that age is not on his side, so if he's going to win, he's going to have to pull a Dungey and hit it hard his first year.
