Proof that I rode KTM's way before it was cool. 1979 Twin State national enduro. That's a 79 KTM 175. 78 was the first year they were officially KTM's in the US and no longer carried the Penton name. I had a Penton Jackpiner as well but no pics of me riding it anywhere.

Did you know an AMA race was held in the Olivenhain area in, I think, the late 60's? Let me see if I can dig up the clip..

Yes in Rancho Santa fe but we lived on the east side of town so I mostly rode around Black Mountain. I don't remember the AMA race but my cousin raced there around 71. Did you know there was a MX track right where they built Torrey Pines High school?

Me crashing on a 1980 KTM RV125. This was a fast bike and I won quite a few 125A races on it. I had a '79 too, that wasn't so fast.

1981 Claverack, NY, this is the first moto I ever won too. Those are size 24 Bates leathers, actual leathers. 11 years old and kept #70 till the end.

I went to Torrey Pines! Laughing Yeah, we rode all around there. Man, used to leave from my house and ride down the streets to the San Elijo Lagoon. Or that lagoon over by the Del Mar fair grounds. Good times.

Show and tell time! I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a whole 4 days into working from home and already trying to figure out ways to stay entertained. Post up the oldest pic you can find of yourself on a trip/at the track/riding your bike/something dirtbike related.

I know I have an older film print of myself in the mid 90s on an '88 KX80 somewhere, but this will have to do for now. 1992 RM125 around 1999 or 2000. Either first or second trip ever out to Dove Springs, CA. This area isn't too far off the road and still looks exactly the same. These early trips to the desert are what made me fall in love with dirtbikes and is still the first thing I think of if anyone asks me how I got into the sport. I have many memories of being led on what felt like the longest trail rides having no clue where we were. Those earliest days of "venturing out" are impossible to replicate when you get older.

Untucked jersey? Yikes... Went through the over-the-boot pants phase for a short time after this too.

This is me when I was 11 years old

Maybe 1973-1974, desert hot springs past Palm Springs. I was not tall enough to ride my brothers Yamaha Mini Enduro yet so I had to ride on my Pops bike with him. Soon after I was on the Mini Enduro

Finally dug up some shots from ‘82 & ‘84.

The first is me (right) and my brother on my dad’s XR 200s, and the second is the day my brother and I got our brand new RM80s in ‘82.
