Old(?) school. Why did LaRocco leave Kawi.

In Larocco's case I thought it had something to do with them not wanting his father to continue as his mechanic.

I believe there were a few reasons. One, him and Mike Kiedrowski hated each other and I think the team manager (Roy Turner?) favored Kiedrowski. Plus, Larocco had his dad as a mechanic and I believe his dad and the team manager clashed from time to time. Badly. Also, towards the end of the 95 season, there was a contract dispute and Larocco wasn't being offered a good contract package, and Decoster was willing to give him an blank check to fill out for two years at Suzuki. And...they wanted to clean house and get a new squad in the semi, to include Emig. In retrospect, it was a good move, cause they won three championships between the 96 and 97 season and a ton of races between Damon Huffman, Ryan Hughes and Jeff Emig really cleaning house and beating McGrath in his prime. Granted, Larocco did well again, once he was on a Honda; but towards the end of his tenure with Factory Kawi, it was a tense relationship at best. Dunno if this helps fill in the blanks any.

Dad and Money.

If I remember correctly, outdoors both Mike & McGrath got better starts- they blamed it on the suzuki's lack of power and therefore lack of wheelspin.

I thought he split with his dad before he left Kawi. He was on Whiskey Throttle and I thought he went over all that.
