Didn't know about the John penton DVD, we saw it on YouTube a while ago now. It was a good reminder of why we started riding!

That is not "some old guy". Wink That is Paul Rhodden from Tulsa. I used to ride Blackjack Enduros with him. And Hare Scrambles at Zink Ranch. And pizza/beer at TTR meetings. He can't be some old guy because I am not some old.......ok, i see your point. SmileSmile

I mean no disrespect to the gentlemen in that video whatsoever but my buddy's Dad is 70 and rides with us all the time. I enjoy riding with him for two reasons - it gives me a chance to catch my breath after a nasty section a tiny, tiny bit and he is also an inspiration to me. I have every intention of riding when I am 70 and he is showing me it can be done.

Who am I kidding? At 70 the guy is in way, way better shape than I am. Kind of a wake up call for me actually, to get my shit together.

The "Old Horse" as we affectionately call him was musing about a Side-by-Side the other day and I told him to fuck off with that shit. You start doing something "a bit easier" and next thing you know you wake up in a nursing home with drool on your chin.

Also pretty cool to see 3 generations riding together - the kids, Dad, and Grandfather. I hope I'm lucky enough to ride with my kids in 15 years.

Actually, on the last RMDRA (off-road) club ride I was on I rode with the easy group because I'm lazy and hate the thought of people I don't know possibly having to wait for me on the trail. Our group leader told us to hold up at the top of a ridge and watch the guy coming up the hill on the other side of the ridge in the lead, "...he's 68 and leading the ride". I heard a KTM 200 pinned, clutch slipping and this old guy hammered up the steep, rocky uphill (our group hadn't even bothered to try it - too nasty) and just blasted on by into the singletrack with about 15-20 other younger-than-him dudes following or muddling along trying to follow. The expert rides in that club are nothing to sneeze at, at all.

At 47, 70 don't seem too old, really...

I know a guy that's going over to glen Helen to race the vet championship and he's from England, he's 68-70 and still loves riding his bike I ride with a lot of my dads friends and a lot of them are in their mid 40's and 50's, stay fit and still ride their bikes fast! It's nice to see they don't use the I'm getting old I can't do anything excuseLaughing

I'm 45 and when I get to enjoy a ride with my two sons and my grandson there is no greater since of pride for me. Back last year we all 4 were racing on the same day. That meant a lot to me. I've been off the bike for over a year now due to a wreck but we will ride together again for sure!

Back in the 90's, Barry Higgins' father Harry used to travel the country with his dog and racing an old BSA 441 at the AHRMA vintage nationals. He was 83 at the time. ALWAYS smiling with his open face helmet.

Villopoto's gramps races old CZ's currently.

I found the '83 CR480 that my Dad bought for himself back in '83. He's 73 now and he's looking forward to twisting the grip on his old steed.
