...but it sure looks freaking cool. Adidas is a new sponsor for the Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team this year, and they did up this blue suede seat cover with the familiar triple stripe for the team. This one will be on Christian Craig's bike (as a show bike, since he's on the sidelines) for the next few rounds.

Great idea for a sidelined bike

If I ever do naked wheelies down the street at night like Shawn Palmer in the 90s,
that seat will definitely benefit my ballsack.

Thats actually pretty cool, I think some other teams should take note from TLD on how to bring in some different, more main stream sponsors to the sport.

I'm liking the variety of sponsors the TLD team has. Good looking bikes also but I don't like the seat cover. I doubt they would run that come race time anyway.

Would be cool if Adidas started making boots to compete with the Nikes!

This is Cool. If you look at the new troy lee video of cole seely first win. They have that seat cover on all the bikes. I guess they take them off before practice and the race.

X2 i totally agree, the skateboarding (action sports) sponsors are good to but i dont think people will take it as seriously, we should try to get real sport sponsors, nike adidas under armour etc... since this is the most physically demanding sport we should be treated like a real sport

I had those shoes back in the 70's! Next thing you know, they'll be riding 2 strokes. If they plan on riding with those, I hope they have a whole shitload of seats prepped and ready to swap out every moto. Don't get dirt or water on them.....Woohoo

Remember that huge fan of David Bailey who made him a sorta replica of his CR500, it had a suede seat:

I think it's groovy! I would think suede or a faux suede would offer pretty good traction?

I think the whole point of the seat cover is the stripes...

Dam thats cool!! my old man has a 86 cr250 (which was his local championship winning bike of that time) that bike gets started once a year and still fires first kick! he wants to hang it up in the lounge just like that.

But to stay on topic, i think its great for the sport that such big commercial brands are coming in like that!

Suede seats work just great. All of the Dakar racers use them. They are the way to go for long distance rides. You can powerwash them as well. Obviously they dry slow, but they can be washed.

I remember them too and there was a pecking order if I remember right.
White Adidas with Blue stripes and you were a "somebody".

White Adidas with Green stripes and you were MONEY.
Your family was rich.

White Adidas with Red stripes meant you had a little money but not enough to be cool.

If you wore Chuck - Converse, especially the high tops, you were relaying the poverty of your family or the cheapness of your dad.
God help you if you had to wear those black track shoes with the white stripes on them!
In a twist of irony, Chuck - Converse's have become popular again today.
Due to my upbringing with them, I would never be caught dead wearing a pair.

Funny to me as an older guy now that there used to be about 4 or 5 different shoes out there and now there is about a thousand.

My guess would be every other team has tried getting some different more main stream sponsors to the sport. But, why would they came over here when the sport isn't mainstream?

No one at Feld or AMA even act's like it needs to be mainstream.
