I've always been curious as to the off road guy's salaries. There are some fairly big name guys that have real life jobs on top of racing. Baylor is a multi series national champ and he puts on riding classes. I wonder what a Josh Toth is making. Or a Jordan Ashburn. I gotta think there are very few guys that are doing real well in the off road scene. I wouldn't think there are that many more that are even making a living off racing exclusively.
Dakar guys 150-200k with hefty race win bonus's
Pit Row
I know back when mossy was sx and mx champ he was pulling in 300k+, money is a bit better these days
The days of making big money offroad is gone. Shane Watts showed me what he made back in the day and it was a lot of coin. Those days are long gone. I would expect someone like Russel is making over $300k a year. I know what some top CDN National riders are making. Good livings but not getting rich.
I know several of the Am champions and they are not making anything but $250 holshot bonus $ IF they pull the hole shot.
Hell I'm not sure Stu Baylor the National Enduro Champ is even "making a living" I mean can SRT really be paying him $50k a year? He did have on a Factory KTM hat in championship photos so I'm sure KTM threw him a championship bonus, but it's a sad state of affairs when a National Champ at the Pro level is depending on Mom & Dad to make sure they keep on racing.
By most accounts off road races at a local/amateur level are seeing growing turnouts as opposed to shrinking at the local level of MX, it'd be nice to see some of the money swing the other way.
I know this was years ago and a different time period, but Ben Riddle said himself his last year being a amateur he made around 250k.
maybe you should try being directly involved in GNCC racing.
