How old was McGrath when he started racing? I know he rode BMX for a long time as a kid.
OP asked about current pro's

McGrath is in the BMX Hall of Fame. He never won a national race in BMX yet they put him in their Hall of Fame.
Nicole Kidman is also in the BMX Hall of Fame because she starred in the movie BMX Bandits.

Adam Cianciarulo started at age 18. Probably him.
Both Hahn brothers didn't start riding till they were borderline 20 years old Laughing

I seem to remember Heikki Mikkola started riding at 18.
Basically the same timeline as me.
The similarities end there unfortunately.

Dear OP,

Even though this thread is 3 pages long, none of us have found a single rider that started later than average, of current pro's in the US.

Sincerely,

The Shop

McElrath started young just didn't get noticed, or have a ride, until he was 17 or so.

However, Christian Craig didn't start until later than most.

Correct, which I believe he didn't start racing or riding until he was 10 or 11. But raced BMX. None of the current pros started that late.
