Nealer is a gnarly dude.. He went to a few races with Valli, as a friend of the team, in early 2009. I know him and my mechanic at the time, had a good ol' time together... they went out partying the night before a WORCS race, and when i got up to head to the track in the early AM, my mechanic never came back to the room.. him and Neal ended up at the track just before practice.. haha with some crazy memories of the night before.. Nealer was a good dude though, i liked the guy.. He had some awesome stories about racing SX/Mx in the 90's, some of the off track stuff they did back then, as well as racing down in South America. I was suprised to see him on RacerX, but was pumped to see he is doing good.

Man, cool story, but I thought I was reading about OC's story. I was a little let down when I realized it wasn't, lol. OC, we need to hear your story. As much as I enjoy hearing about other riders, I would much rather hear yours.

Mikey Young Jr, me and Nealer at Tulare in 78. I crashed and busted my knee wide open, 20 stitches later...us three had such good times growing up, kinda sad that both Mikey and I ended up on wheels. Blink

I saw Chris Neal at Sandhill Ranch in about 1988. He was somewhat of a local celebrity. At least to me he was. I didn't even have a bike yet but my dad took me to the races just to watch. I remember I was in awe of Chris.

Also, I remember MXA ran a picture of him in what remains my most prized issue (the big World Mini GP story in 1986, I think it was the June issue). If memory serves, Chris was a YZ guy at the time and had trouble adjusting to the KX for the Kawasaki race of champions.

Been to the Pit Stop at Hollister countless times too. Great story, glad Nick and Scottie got together and made it happen. Thanks guys.

BTW: I love the Peanuts pillow Scottie!

Scottie, awesome pictures, and great article. It's amazing we never crossed paths, considering we're the same age and grew up riding/racing in the same state, but it just goes to show the distance between a NorCal and SoCal rider in the 80's. Those pics take me back to the best times of my life though.

Spot on Dan! as i said in the RX comment section: Best times of our lives growing up at HH, that pic of him and I is his all time fav, we still recall every single detail from that day. Look at my front tire....now picture the dirt that day, cutting in a fresh track on a green grass hill...what dreams are made of!!
