I have a 15 Honda 450. I put spring forks on it and after a couple months of testing got them working good. Cant get the shock to the sweet spot yet. Thinking of an Ohlins. Anyone try one on the newer Honda?

What forks did you end up putting on? I'm either going to try the MX Tech PSF to SFF conversion, or Ohlins cartridges.

I must admit... my air forks are working phenomenal!!! Graeme Brough got them dialed, as good as any spring fork I've ever had.

I'm just tired of always checking pressures before each moto, so kinda of an experiment for me. Same bike, 15 CRF450

I have a 2015 and I put 13 CRF 250 forks on mine made bike so much better also added sdi racing shock Clevis to shock along with both ends being sprung and valved for me, I could never get the stock forks to work no matter what I did.

Still wanting to go blue I think had lot little issues with this bike kind of disappointing.

I have 2012 crf250 Showa spring forks. Graeme Brough did them and my shock. Shock is ok. I also had AHM and Precision Concepts do my shock but I have not found the results I want. I am picky, its all about confidence. I just don't trust the shock in certain situations. I race off road, worcs. A lot of variables. Just wondering if any one has tried an ohlins.

Yea... same here. Between all the suspension work, and flame out issues, I'm jumping ship. Just haven't decided which color yet.

My only problem is, I have so much money and parts into this bike, it will be financially painful Sad

I'm fickled... I change my mind every other day.

Yeah I'm in same boat too lol I've had little stuff like my shift lever tips all loose, footpeg pins bent got set made that have been fine now still not as tight as I'd like cause I'm anal too lol, front brake caliper had to rebuild still doesn't work perfect, stock clutch is junk, and the motor is weak I'll just stop there.

Oh it doesn't start that good half the time either takes 5-7 kicks sometimes like wtf everything in spec etc

I came so close to going blue just a couple days ago. I rode my friends 15 yzf Friday back to back with my 15 Honda. It was good, but honestly not that much better tham my Honda. It did feel more planted, turned pretty dam good too. But it was also big and wide. I decided to pass on blue.

I'm about to put the ride engineering 21mm offset clamps on and their cr link on my 15. I was going to get some 2012 250 spring forks but was thinking about buying a set of a kit spring forks but want to get a good year/model. Does anyone know what would be the best a kit to get?

For off-road, the '13-'16 chassis really likes 22mm clamps. It will feel more 'planted'.

I'm in the process of putting wp cone valve forks on the 15. Had a race yesterday that was hot. Felt like the forks just got ridiculously harsh on the small chatter. I'm over them. Sss forks are way better
The forks are ok in the morning in the loam. Bottom pretty hard- it's been valved stiffer, well according to the tuner.
Can't wait.. Now I'll see how the rear end goes in comparison

Your bike will be so good with the cone valve forks mate. Now all you gotta do is get some proper numbers made up. Lol

22 mm clamps sucked on my 15, even for off road. Made the bike feel lazy. I switched back at the track to stock 20, wow, so much better and still stable. That is with my set up though

Haha. Yesterday's race ones were pretty ordinary even by my standards...

Op- have you considered a trax Wp shock for the Crf?

How is it that one guy claims 22mm clamps are great, and another claims they suck?

Can you elaborate on that man?

I have heard nothing but good things about Graeme and he was beyond helpful when I called him with questions about the A kit I bought that he was the last person to service.

Uh because what works for one person will not necessarily work for another. It is very subjective.

Suspension is very subjective, but I don't consider clamps in this category so much. I'm surprised to see such polar responses for clamps. It's one thing for someone to to be neutral or another to not feel any difference, but one guy said it was more planted and the other said the opposite. Even with different suspension, it generally isn't this cut and dry for offsets.

Yes, lots of variables affect the chassis handling:

Valving,
triple clamps,
rear wheel position,
footpegs,
bars & bar clamp position,
body position,
ect...

I rode 20mm and 22mm clamps back to back on a test bike, with an 18" rear wheel. 20mm clamps- front end climbs out of ruts. The 22s calmed down the chassis and planted the front end in ruts because (like gpracer36 said) the 22s make the chassis "lazier".

Keith101- everything on an internet message board is subjective! That's why we test and see for ourselves. Woohoo

well, for me, i like a bike to turn. I have x-trig clamps, recommended by Eric at JCR, they have the stock setting at 20mm and the 22mm option. While setting up my bike Greame recommended the stock 20mm. I felt 22mm was the way to go because I do ride some off road. After a couple test sessions and me not feeling the bike was turning, Greame said just turn the clamps around back to stock and try it. I was at the track at the time and said ok. It took maybe a half an hour to do it. I went back out on the track and it was like a light switch, effing awesome. I now had the front end feel I was chasing with the 22mm clamps. Again, this is just my bike, set up the way I like it.

Now, if I was racing desert I would most likely swap them to 22mm.

I put a Ride Engineering complete linkage on my 2013. Night and day difference, especially off road riding. I also got the link 1 size longer than they normally ship with the complete linkage. This defies everything I've read online about the 2013, but I'm 185lbs and run a 4.8 rear spring also. Rear tire tracks real nice now in the trails. I ride about 50/50 track and trail. Bike was horrible off road until I made these changes. I also have the Ride Engineering 21 offset clamps. Our trail systems here in Michigan have a lot of high speed sand whoops, and the 21 offset gave me just a little bit more stability.

You might try calling Clark Jones at Noleen j6. and ask his opinion.
He's an Ohlins dealer and is very good with the shocks.
I've used him for my Ohlins on my KTM's

So I ordered the Ride engineering 21mm clamps, barmounts with +10mm riser and soft cones, and the link. Now about to order a set of 250f forks and send it to Graeme. If it doesn't help I'm getting a new bike for sure.
