Friend in high-school had a Dalesman, similarly a Sachs engined pig. They put Sachs motors in a lot of things back then, DKWs too. That is a cool find, tho. Me likey. *pic unrelated
Very cool. I believe this was right around the time the Euro OEM's were getting ousted in the US market by the Japanese. As someone else said, Sachs was indeed a very popular motor supplier for many makes in the 70s... I believe their transmissions were their known weak point..

Sachs is currently the supplier for many auto manufacturer's 8 and 9 speed transmission. The also make Beta's suspension. They are a big conglomerate.
