I have that same picture in one of my ol 76 scrapbooks. At one time Gaston was the FMOTP on a 125 and his RA125's were awesome! Woohoo

I heard the small in stature Belgian was quite a character as well. Did you ever see the Warren Reid interview where he did an impression of Gaston? It was hilarious as Gaston was there to impress and take all the ladies....Laughing

That’s crazy I was thinking everyone missed Jimmy Gaddis he was a factory Suzuki rider. Kawi flew him to 10-15 rounds of the Lake Geneva Friday night sx. Jimmy won the 1st sx title on a KX for Mitch. Junior Jackson was another team Suzuki rider he broke his arm or collar bone 3 times in 1 yr then he lost his ride.

In the 80’s here in New England a shop called Cycle Design fielded a dominating team of riders on RM 125’s. The shop would have Al Doane build package racers for each rider, and the bikes were the ones to be on if you wanted to win. Riders were Jojo Keller, Jim Meenan, Weymss Scott, Greg Mayo, David Rudnicki and a few more. Those were the days of shop jerseys and shop contingency and Cycle Design was the best of the best in that golden era.

So many good riders champions bikes and memories. Is so sad to see this heritage die. Like our memories. Like a family person with a terminal illness. Slow decline and hope that something will happen and bring them back. Rumor of new Dr that has old passion. A new team to breath hope but it all looks like just weeks to live now. Even old riders who hate Suzuki would feel the sadness like to see old rival die.

Listen to Dubach’s Whiskey Throttle episode, he explains it pretty well. I remember MXA mentioning a couple times BITD how Dubach cleaned up local pro on what I remembered as a 81’ RM125, and this was probably 83-4?. But it’s too late to rife through my MXA stash so I just caped this pic online.
