He’s become the most irrelevant potential title contender. He just doesn’t have what it takes, at least not to this point, to win a 450SX title.

Well, I did specifically say “450 SX”. You saw that, right? Does anyone think he has any shot at winning this? Barring something crazy like Webb and Marv miss the last 3 rounds, he realistically has no shot. That is the very definition of irrelevant.

He was fast for sure, looked like the Tomac of old. His bike on the other hand...not so hot. That thing was smoking more than the van Jeff Spicoli rode to Ridgemont HS in. Hopefully he'll be able to defend his outdoor title this year, but Webb, Musquin and Roczen might have something to say about that.

If CW has a bike DNF. I think ET will beat MM over the next three rounds points-wise so in that scenario ET wins. Still possible.

Sorry I didn't. On SX I gotta agree, history proves it. I'd give him some credit for improving his consistency tho. As you said, barring something crazy or stupid I think none of them (Musquin and Tomac) has a shot at it so if Webb's 20 points to spare is your definition of irrelevant that's fine but I'd wait for the fat lady just to be sure.

Imo if roczen didn't go down he wouldn't of even won, majorly gutted for roczen I think he's going to surprise everyone outdoors if he's at his level he was in 2016 I don't think anyone's got a chance even tomac

2016 Roczen is about the same as 2015 Tomac.

Everyone says if Roczen rode like 2016 no one has a chance. But lets try to compare what we can.
2016 Tomac just came back from shoulder injury, (double, i think) the biggest injury of his career. 2018 Roczen is about as close to 2016 Tomac as we can compare (return from major injury).

2016 Tomac would have smoked 2018 Roczen. Tomac was getting better each week in 2016 and challenged for the win several times and dispite only 3 moto wins and 2 overalls in 2016, that is more than can be said for 2018 Roczen, who won 1 moto (you know, the one ET3 DNFd at Red Bud after being up 10-15 seconds and bike stopped working) and no overalls. Kenny didnt seem to improve throughout the 2018 mx season as much as Eli did in 2016, or at least it seemed that way to me.

Maybe the comparison is not apples to apples, but it's probably as close as we will get. Can we stop bringing up 2016 Roczen now? ecause that was 3 years ago and aint happening again.

He’s literally tied in points with Musquin. If Webb has a bad night Eli could absolutely win. Especially with the way Musquin has been making mistakes.
