To handle the spectators that would show up for a supercross round if both of the Ryans agreed to enter on two strokes.
Yeah, I know, but I can dream.

Hell why not just throw James Stewart in there on a #259 KX125 while you’re at it

Um,

Both Ryans were on two strokes yesterday and there were plenty of empty seats at a fairgrounds .

I love two-strokes, but JustMX nailed it.

On the other hand, so did Denny Stephenson in his insta post about the event.

"It's still happening and there's no coincidence. The Red Bull Straight Rhythm is down to the semis and finals. And no this isn't a debate over one off energy drink events because I have friends making magic at all three brands. With that said, I've watched every year of this event and by far this has been the closest in every two man battle than ever before. And you know why? Two strokes kids. Yea I catch some shit from people suggesting I'm a get off my lawn, uphill both ways in knee deep snow old school'er, and eh maybe from time to time but I love this sport just like we all do. Bottom line, the OEM's are single handedly killing the sport with over priced dirt bikes loaded with meaningless air forks, idiotic dual exhaust and pretend 11 thousand dollar factory replicas. 90% of the sport are passionate hobby enthusiasts who sure the fuck are questioning why it costs them a second mortgage to go race locals with their friends. And c'mon let's be honest, competitive professional racing is a shell of the entertainment on 60 plus HP bikes than it was. Tonight's RBSR was a perfect example as every race ended within bikelengths compared to its prior thumper versions that were more snooze than nail biter. Two strokes aren't going away despite what the OEM fed media shoves down our throats."

Easier then trying to read something that long on insta on here I figure

RBSR was obviously not a supercross round.
I do believe that if both of them agreed to do one round, and advertised it well in advance, there would be a big surge in attendance for that round.
And no, I do not think that it will happen, sadly.

Most people at SX don't care, and there's so many the few extra hundred that that could bring wouldn't be noticed. If there was an actual 2 strokes only outdoor round though at one of the big tracks, that would probably see a noticeable spike in attendance.

If 2 strokes lined up at supercross, I might actually get past watching round three, which has been a struggle in recent years with the four strokes.
Let’s be honest, the racing is just better with 2strokes, but there’s more money to be made with four strokes. That’s the bottom line. Everybody knows it, the industry knows it, the shills know it, most fans know it (if they were watching or racing 20 years ago).

I don't think it's as much of a 2 vs. 4 thing, as lower speeds, and an emphasis on not making mistakes.

Travis looked painfully slow on his 250 at the MXoN compared to the 450s. But on the other hand, I think the current crop of 450s have gotten to the point of being so fast that there's little to no margin for error, as we're about out of reaction time.

We're the stands more packed when 4 stroke's we're doing it?

And can anyone honestly say , with a straight face , that last night's racing wasn't the best that event has ever had?

Isn't that what everyone wants....close racing? And if it is , and 2 strokes provided it....why brag about how cool 4 stroke's are , all while taking a dig at the 2 strokes?

If 2 strokes are so cheap why is a YZ65 or a KTM 65 $5500.00 ?

I really enjoyed last nights RBSR but I still don't see 2 strokes as being much cheaper than 4 strokes.

They arent. It just sounds better replacing ten top ends compared to one 450 top end lol.

I don't necessarily think that all of the riders should be on two strokes for supercross. However, if two extremely popular, recently retired champions showed up on two strokes while everyone else is on four strokes, I think it would be incredible. There wouldn't be any pressure on them since they wouldn't be racing for points toward the championship. Just having a good time, and maybe competing with each other for bragging rights.

The argument that 4 stroke cause races not to be close is one hundred percent invalid. It’s the riders not the bikes. Unless your telling me that Tomacs and Musquins bike have that big of a difference between them. Which I highly doubt. I bet if you put them both on a dyno there is maybe a 5 horsepower difference.

Still a few thousand less than a 4 stroke when talking about big bikes. Also, a YZ65 is $4,600, a little more than half the price of a 250F.

Bought a brand new yz250 two stroke for 6300 OTD at my local dealership. If you don’t think that’s cheaper than every 450 you are terrible at math.

Jeffro,

I am not disputing that racing would be closer and a much better show going back to 2 strokes.

I absolutely agree with everything quoted from the ig post by denny stephenson.

I just doubt that rd and rv showing up on 2 strokes against a 4 stroke mounted field would be the draw that the op thinks it would be.

I certainly hope that after the racing and positive comments that the rbsr is getting that finding an empty seat next year will be much tougher and that future rbsr events are as exceptional as the 2018 event.

2019 model.difference is $800. You arent getting a new 2019 yz250 smoker for $6300.

I rebuilt the top end on my 125 for around $140.00. how much does it cost to replace a top on on a 250F ?

Not to hijack the thread, but people need to stop complaining about the cost of a bike. Theres plenty of bikes out there that are used for $2500. Throw another grand at it to freshen the motor and youre good to go. For $3500. You dont need to go out and buy a brand new bike for $10,000. Im so tired of people spewing bullshit.

Quite a bit more, but way less often. Then throw in time, labor etc. How many top end would you do. Compared to a 450.

Let’s just say I wouldn’t be put off buying a 250 2stroke for fear of top end rebuild costs or longevity. A 250 2stroke can do a lot of hours on a top end.
250f’s on the other hand (which these days is the comparison) are another matter. Yep, I have a 250f and 250 2stroke.
