Correct, I posted it because every time Ronnie tries to qualify all I can think of is Damon J. Smith. That video is from 2011. Damon was also in his 40's but had only been racing a handful of years after a short stint as a pro ball player in the CFL, IIRC. Was just trying to live his dream too.

I am not 100% on this but I seem to remember last year someone who knew Ford suggested he is WAY better at mx than supercross and should be trying for the outdoors instead. Not "top 20" better if at all but surely it can't be worse and he wouldn't have to be as technically gifted. Maybe he should turn his sights towards that.

I’ve heard the same. Rips outdoors. How about a Stank Dog - Ronnie Ford Husky effort?

I am not sure being a mid pack vet class rider at loretta lynns would really mean he rips outdoors? maybe vet classes but in no way the top level of this sport.

Although he was pretty terrible at SX. I still give him major props for even being able to get to that point within a few years. Wonder if he would have done better at an outdoor national, I'd imagine he's gota be pretty fast somehow to even be allowed to try to qualify in pro SX.

Ronnie Ford is definitely much better at MX but still nothing crazy. Looks a lot like the average former pro old guy that still rips that you see at your local track. He's quick but I'd be surprised if he even qualified top 40 for an outdoor national. If he managed to qualify, he could maybe pull a 30th-35th depending on his start and if he has a good race.

He has to be somewhat decent. He got AMA points from somewhere and a license. They dont hand them out.

He's only half a lap slower than the fastest qualifier. He would have seen Marvin every other lap as he passed by.

But at least his pants stayed buckled.

He didn't earn any points like you have to now he got grand fathered in from carrying a license from the late 90's when in fact they did pretty much hand them out to anybody that was an A rider back then.

Age is a lame excuse. He is trying to qualify for pro sx. My point being if you can't even beat local riders, what makes you think you can qualify for sx.

I still get my license renewal pack/email every year. Doesn't mean I have to fill it out and try to re live the '90's again...
