Did the manufacturer not do it? Thinking it's an ev not needed? Basically state didn't get it's money.
Parks like Carnegie are bending the rules and letting no VIN bikes in.
Did the Alta's come with VINs? Curious what they put in the 8th digit if they did.

A wise man on Vital once said "It doesn't matter much, they are making sure there is no place to ride anyway. I know everyone thinks e-bikes are going to be the saving grace, but if you think folks are not going to find excuses to complain about / ban that as well, you are fooling yourself. It all goes back to the comment I am responding to, everything is going to be banned (sorry CA folks, it all seems to start there)"
The bike doesn't have a VIN, you need a VIN to register a bike, and only registered bikes can be ridden on most public lands. It's that simple.
Basically it wasn’t a pro circuit or a FMF so they assumed it was fake.
Other places are less strict, except pismo though they only care about the sticker, but man they crack down for going 5 mph over the speed limit on the beach. Friend got a $1200 ticket because “low visibility and speeding without headlights on” going 5mph over the speed on a weekday, it wasn’t low visibility you could see over a mile away. those 2 parks are power trip zones.

Funny thing is they don't need a reason to stop you. Routine is enough cause and if you think they wont impound your shit... think again.
Na, we were just a bunch of idiots…
There are no emissions, so i don't understand how it can't meet emission standards...doesn't seem like we are getting the whole story here...like others mentioned, it could be a technicality with the VIN number or something...Or...it is California...so I wouldn't be surprised at all that they won't allow a zero emission bike, for exceeding the emission standards...they are THAT ridiculous there...
