DIS announced no Daytona 200 race in March of 2021. First cancellation since WWII. Knowing what I know about the speedway, I’d be shocked if they allow the SX to run. I hope I’m way off in this.

The 200 has had zero fan attendance in 20 years. They were tired of losing money on it, I’m sure. Daytona SX is a cash cow. I don’t see it going anywhere (providing we have any SX series, at all).

Mark, I think you might be misreading this:

It's canceled for this year, the 79th year, on October 17, but they announce that it will return on March 13, 2021. So hopefully it's still a go...

You’re absolutely correct, Davey. My bad. Living here has infused a heightened sense of skulduggery from the folks at DIS. Glad to see it was my mistake.

Haha, no problem, and I’m also just hopeful it happens in March, as well as the 200!

Working in the motorcycle industry I have spent many years working Bike Week out of a vendor semi outside of the track and I can't tell you how many people asked me what was going on when they heard the 200 going on.

"Is NASCAR going on in there?"

Truly sad how one of the greatest races in the world has become a glorified club race.

As an ex-roadracer, my perspective on the Daytona 200, that race that used to be premier, biggest race in not the US, but the world, has dwindled to almost nothing. As a whole, professional roadracing in the US is waaay behind where it used to be. In the '90's, there were far more people hoping to make the show than ran the race, last several years they have a difficult time filling the grid for the 200. Factory participation is almost nil. Sad, very sad.

The funny thing is the 200 is canceled in October but CCS race of champions is still on as of now.

Race of Champions is the national championship race for CCS Road racing.

I sure hope that some normalcy returns and these races run with at least some spectators. It is a shame how far road racing has fallen in this country. I saw one of the last 200's held with Super Bikes and it was amazing. They really killed the 200 when they changed the rules imho.

I was there for Spencer, Roberts, Baldwin, Singletary, Pons and all the great European riders on 2 stoke exotica through 1984. It all changed with the 4 stroke. Sounds familiar.
