I'd think Metcalfe is a better pick than Reed right now, wouldn't you think?

Could be a bike deal thing. How long was Brett supposed to ride the factory Kawi?

Where they willing to provide a bike? How much support did he have if he was even picked?

I agree that Metcalfe is a much better pick and he did win that moto on Saturday last year at the MXdN if I am correct??? However I think it's more complicated than what it seems.

There are also two other things to look at. Does the Australia have a motocross federation that helps to pay the team's way, or do the riders cover their expenses? Also there is Brett's bike situation, Kawasaki may not be in the position to help him with the bike he's been racing the outdoors on.

I do agree though, Brett at this point would be a better choice.

Theoretical option: If Chad needs the rest to re-coop and get ready for SX, he could send Brett in his place and Brett can have the guys at Showa give him the setting he ran with the Factory Kawi team. There would be a few other differences with the bike of course, but Brett seems to be diverse when it comes to jumping on new bikes.

this was posted in the other thread...

"According to Motorcycling Australia

Brett Metcalfe chose to withdraw his nomination to compete at the MXoN this year due to other issues he needs to attend to around the time of the 2014 MXoN, MA were naturally very disappointed about the news but respect his call and hope he is in contention to represent us in the future!"

He probably didn't want to be a "fill in" for when Chad crashed.

What a shame, because he is the best guy they would have.

Metty has to be one of the unluckiest guys in the moto field. Can't imagine it was something positive that kept him out of the MXN
